I will tell you it is hot hot hot, but if you are from somewhere with a similar climate it won't matter too much because the last week of August is also empty empty empty. Its either right after school starts (in the south) or right before school starts (north) and only little kids and folks without kids tend to travel then! Its easy to see everything, but this is usually when the free dining promotions starts!
We are visiting the end of August this year, we were originally planning on visiting at the beginning of August but I have keeping my fingers crossed for Free Dining...
We don't mind the heat that much and it will just give us reason to stay and relax in the pool
If you can handle the heat especial with the high humidity then yes go. This is one of the less crowded times during the summer. Do take afternoon swim breaks though so you can cool off.

I recommend a trip to WDW whenever you can go. Yes I'm sure it's very hot & humid in FL in August but to be totally honest it's no picnic here in PA in August so I'd rather be in Disney. I will be going this year 8/9 - 8/15 as it's the only time our schedule would allow.
Kris is right - it's hot and humid everywhere in August. But the FL sun is so strong so you have to take it easy. If you want to commando tour and run from attraction to attraction without resting late August might not be for you. But if you take breaks and keep yourself hydrated you can enjoy the benefits of low crowds and hopefully free dining.
We'll be there this year from 8/20 - 8/29. I'm hoping it is the PERFECT time to visit Disney! I've been at the beginning of August and didn't find the weather too bad, not much different from up here when it's hot and humid. The crowds were more than I was used to so I'm hoping they thin out a bit at the end of the month.
Like others have said, any time is a good time to go to Disney!
Absolutely go for it. It's a slower period, which helps. You can do the parks early morning and late afternoon and take a swim break in the middle... you can do water parks, too! I say definitely go for it!
We like late August, although we're usually gone by the 24th as the kids have to go back to school. Yes, it's hot and humid, but it's hot and humid most places that time of year. At that point, the crowds start to go down since most everyone is going back to school!!
Did it once ... Never Again! Way to hot & humid for us
But, Aside from that, The crowds were very low compared to Spring Break and it was nice being able to not have to arrive at the parks at the very opening to still have short 10-15 Stand-by waits
