I looked at touring plans and tourguide mike and neither one of them mentions how to fit the Jedi Training Academy into the day most efficiently. Any suggestions?
If you have children who want to participate, this is what we did: we got to DHS at rope drop and one adult headed to TSMM to get fastpasses, while the other took the boys to sign up for Jedi training (the children must be present to sign up). They actually got in the first show (9:55 am) and had to return back to the area 20 or 30 minutes before the show. After the show, we headed to TSMM to use our fastpasses then continued on with our day. We found hitting Jedi Training first thing to be more convenient than trying to plan the rest of the day around it (and for us it was an absolute must do!).

This is pretty much exactly what we did a few weeks ago and it worked out really well. One advantage of having our nephew being able to be in the first Jedi Training session was that there wasn't a big crowd there yet so we could easily get some good pics and video without having to fight the crowds.
If you are going during a busier time of the year you will definatly want to get your kids signed up quickly in the morning. We were told by the cast memners working the signup area that on busy days the jedi sessions can be totally filled up an hour or so after the park opens.
One other tip, there will be a photopass photographer taking pics during the show. Let him know you have kids in the show and he will give you a ticket to take to the photopass shop at the front of the park. About an hour after the performance you can go to the shop and they will add all of the shots he took to your photopass card which will be included on the photopass cd. If you're not getting the cd then you can still have them put on a photopass card to look at later and decide if you want to purchase prints.
Good luck and I hope your kids get to do the show, my nephew loved it and I have some cool pics and video of him. I won't say what he is doing because I don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen the show, I'll just say it's really cool, especially if your kids are Star Wars fans (or even if you are ).
We did the same thing as wolfhunt and annc98. I headed to Jedi while DH went to get fastpasses. We have 4 children so we were in the third show. DH had to stay in line to hold our place while the rest of us was able to go around (I think DH just didn't want to ride ToT) We were told to be back 30 min before show or we would lose our place. That was this past October. We got some really cool pics as did the photopass photographer. The children really enjoyed it and I am glad they were able to do it. They still talk about it!
In January the sign up area was where the FP machines were located for Star Tours. If you are familiar with the Star Tours entrance it was just to the right. There should be cast members there that will guide you to the sign up area.
