I attempt to lose weight before any vacation. The main reason is I find an upcoming vacation is a great motivator. And who doesn't like new clothes for vacation? Shopping for those new clothes is much more fun when I've managed to shed some pounds first.
I also make an effort to look my best before any vacation. Those are where the majority of the pictures of me are taken, and who doesn't want to look good in their pictures?
Yes, I am. Currently lost about 20lbs and trying to loos another 10 at least before we leave. As others have posted it the pictures, tend to make me want to look the best I can. Plus being over weight is hard on my back and knees, loosing the weight is something that will healthier for my entire body, and make it easier for park travel. I think with any trip I want to look my best. Going to Disney just makes me want to have more motivation.
Well, I didn't lose weight for Disney specifically, but I'll be 40 pounds lighter for our next trip than I was for the last. I'm wondering what it will feel like to ride the rides, etc. It did make packing a bit more interesting. I didn't buy new. . . the shorts and capris are just a bit loose fitting.
As you can see from my sig picture I needed to lose some weight. That trip was the kick in the pants I needed. After I saw those pictures I knew I had to get serious! I have lost some weight and dropped some sizes. Today I was shopping for some shorts and even though I have gone down in sizes it is time to tone the legs!!!! hopefully I'll look much better in my next vacation pictures!!!!
. I think it is great motivation to loose before a trip. You feel better which can make you last longer and walk further without feeling so sluggish. Plus a few new outfits is always nice But for me the big factor is I like to indulge in food and FAB's while on vacation, if I'm in a good workout/loosing weight mode before I go, I don't feel as bad in caving to all the treats.

Like Linny - I try to work out more at home, and eat better so that when I "slip" (ok its a planned jump off the wagon) I won't beat myself up for enjoying my vacation, but then I can come home and saddle up again.

I don't just try to lose it for Disney. I started to gradually lose weight about 18 months ago, just by exercising more and trying to eat a little less. I wanted to make gradual changes to my lifestyle that would stick with me, so that hopefully the weight would stay off long term.

I am definitely more conscientious about not "cheating" before vacation, but after losing a lot of weight 2-3 years ago I work really hard to not put it back on. I did lose to much and put back on about 10 lbs. My sig pic shows me right after the holidays as it was taken in January and I had put on some holiday / winter weight, and was not able to run due to an injury. I was not comfortable there at all, and it made a huge difference at Disney! I leave on Saturday for a short visit with my DSis, DNiece and DNephew and the good side of a bad situation - I'm back down to my running weight thanks to a yucky GI bug. I think if going on vacation is the motivation to get you started then Plan A Trip! I hate seeing pictures of myself with my DD in Disney before I lost the weight. It is all the motivation I need to keep it off! This is me before I lost some of the weight Ten lbs too much with my DNephew
I just keep going back to Disney so I maintain the right weight!
Yes, We will be there late May to early June and I have been walking everyday. Also, eating better. With the daily walks it helps to ready yourself for all the park waking too!
Absolutely.....Its best to go on vacation when you're feeling at your best. I just joined Weight Watchers. We are going to Florida in May. We are staying 2 nights in Gatlinburg on the way down. We want to go ziplining but my husband says he doesn't want to touch the ground when we do it....lol. We are both on the plan. I would like to drop 15 pounds by the time we go. Good luck to anyone who is on a weight loss plan!!!!
I haven't started to lose weight specifically for Disney, but for my own health and comfort level. Although, the trip to Disney is just one in many of my motivating factors. I think it will be more fun and I will enjoy having my picture taken, not to mention the new clothes. If I am comfortable with the way I look, I will be less inclined to be self conscience about walking around Disney.
I am definitely trying to keep off any extra weight before my trip. I had lost about 30-35lbs a few years ago by doing Weight Watchers and have been maintaining ever since. My weight fluctuates from time to time, but never more than 10lbs, and then I feel the difference, because I know I haven't been eating right or exercising like I should to be healthy. My goal is healthy, weight coming off is just one of the perks. I wil also say that I try to enjoy at the parks, I don't go overboard, but I do indulge here & there. Good luck!
