In 5 hours I'll be walking out of the house, bag in one hand, Passporter in the other, to head for the airport for our very fist Disney trip. Suddenly it dawned on me...
You've made your ADR's 180 days out. You've planned, and re-planned, and probably re-re-planned. You plane departs and arrives on time. Everything is going great when you wake up one morning and...RAIN!!! So what do you do? I guess I'm mostly concerned because I was looking at the weather report and there is a chance of thunder showers on Sunday. We were planning on spending the morning in HS, take a break, and come back later. My wife and I have Famtasmic Dinner Reservations for that night, and my mom and my daughter have ADR's for other places. If it rains do we just skip it, take the $10 loss and hope we can get in another time that week (even though the week is basically planned since we have ADR's almost every day). Just wondering what everyone else does when something like this happens.
I know it's a bit depressing that it may rain at WDW. But remember, you're on vacation in the "Happy Place", and the worst day at WDW is better than you're best day at work!
In less than 24 hours, I'll be there too as I leave early tomorrow morning!

Hollywood Studios is probably the best park to be in if it is raining... the park isn't that large (compared to, say EPCOT walking around in the rain!), and a lot of the attractions are shows or things indoors so the rain shouldn't be too much of a problem. Also, I have heard and learned that the rain in Florida is very sporadic - it may come and go very quickly, so hopefully your day isn't a total washout! Also, the forcast seems to change daily! We went for a long weekend in February, and every day that we looked at the forecast it was completely different! So I wouldn't worry too much about the rain - make sure you have an umbrella and possible pick up some cheap ponchos (I think they sell them like 2 in a pack for very cheap at Wal-Mart or dollar stores) that way you can throw them away after you use them, be sure to throw in some extra socks, and just make the best of it!
It rained one afternoon when we were at Epcot. By the time we left Teppan Edo it was still raining, and we got to ride Soarin WITHOUT fastpasses! We got to do alot of stuff without any lines. Rain in Florida is so different than here in PA- plus the rain doesn't always stay, then the sun comes out. No worries for us!
Rain in the happy place can actually have its good points. Put on a poncho and just keep going. Large rain storms will send the less adventurous guests running for the busses, leaving you with a park that is almost empty. Do what you can and take advantage of attractions/shops that you would have missed if it was sunny outside.
Some of my favorite memories of our trips to WDW are those where we were caught in downpours. (I'm talking HUGE ones) And my favorite family picture of all times was taken just after we had been soaked by a passing shower.
