Rope Drops

Can someone update me on what rope drop procedures are like now at each park? I know Holly has changed....

Do these changes have an effect on what time you need to be at park and what are your recommendations?

We were at the World in March and here's what we learned in terms of rope drops:

Magic Kingdom--still has an opening show prior to rope drop. Train station platform, characters, countdown, confetti, etc.

EPCOT--gates open 15 minutes prior, guests make their way to the rope just before Fountain of Nations. Rope drops, but no more characters, family of the day, etc.

Hollywood Studios--no rope drop show, as done previously. Gates open 15 minutes prior and guests can move throughout the park at that time.

Animal Kingdom--we've seen both opening shows--Tree of Life and at the Oasis, but both are gone. Gates open 15 minutes prior to give guests time to explore the Oasis and walk to the rope at Discovery Island. Rope drops and guests are escorted both directions--Safari and Everest.

Hope this helps. Have a great trip!

Thanks for the info!

Is that your family in the MK opening show in your pic? How did you get picked?

Be aware though, the sometimes the 15 minute early thing doesn't happen. We were at DHS one morning in early March at 8:30. I had told my family that they'd open the turnstiles at 8:45. Didn't happen until 9am. My family thought I was crazy.....and the line got really long! Big disappointment.

I'm hoping that MK still has their rope drop without any changes when we go in January. I want Mom to experience that.

The Opening Ceremony remains the same. (That's the show in front of the train station with the characters coming in to sing songs to the waiting guests.)
