I was just reading on All Ears Net about this week's Limited Time Magic:
Long Lost Friends Week: Long-lost Disney friends are returning to the Magic Kingdom Park for one week, January 21–27. Be sure to have your camera ready for a rare chance to possibly brush shoulders with classic characters like Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar, Robin Hood and Friar Tuck. There's also a chance you'll see The Three Little Pigs and more surprises at Magic Kingdom Park.
Now this is more what I was thinking of when I first heard about this. I'd love to see some of those characters again.
I read that, too! Now THAT sounds like great fun. I really do wish they'd announce the "magic" for the whole year, though. I'd build a trip around something like that, but they don't give enough notice.

Exactly!!! I'm dying to know the magic for when I'm booked to be there!!! Guess magic in advance isn't as exciting?! Lol
The long lost friends was what i was excited about when LTM was first announced and the Villains theme for Disneyland around Halloween is an excellent idea as well!
I too wish they'd announce things ahead of time but I wonder if Disney doesn't so maybe they can "reuse" a popular theme later in the year instead of locking themselves into something that may not go over well.

That's a good point. And this sort of "magic" doesn't cost much, as they already have the costumes.
We were there for two different things this weekend, though we didn't partake in either. The Canadian Winterland was open on Fri/Sat. We saw where it was and weren't impressed. (I also saw video online). The Characters week may have started a bit early, because we saw Clarabelle and Horance dancing with cast members in Frontierland on Friday. It was a fun stop during our walk to BTTMR. We didn't see whether there were actual meet and greet areas anywhere in the parks, so guessing they were just supposed to appear in random places? We were in MK on Sunday night and didn't see any of the characters listed (of course it could have been too late in the day).
I'm with you guys - I wish they'd announce what they're doing when, as I'd love to be there for a week like this, but we're about to lock into flights, so we'll have to take our chances. I can understand them not in a way, as I don't doubt they're seeing what works and what doesn't....

I just read either at Mouseplanet or WDWmagic (I was to both sites) that the M&G's with them are in Town Square only until 4 pm and that autographs were being handed out on cards to people. The article speculated that the characters didn't have time to learn the signatures hence the cards.

Yes, we were there on Monday. Correct. The 'rules' are only 1 family photo per group and no autographs. They stated this was to keep the lines moving faster, which did make sense. Autographs do take longer. the characters would come out for 25 minute sets and go in for 35 mins, so not continuous as most meet and greets. They did give you autograph cards but ONLY to the people in the photo, so if I took a photo of the kids with the characters for my family photo, I didn't get an autograph card - I thought that was a little ridiculous. I waited in line for an hour and couldn't get a stupid autograph card??!!? I could understand not offering unless requested, but thought if I asked if I may have one, it was a little crazy not to 'allow' me to have one. A few of the cast members did give me one, but most were very clear that since I wasn't in the photo, I was not 'allowed' to get one. geez!
It was fun to see the three little pigs and big bad wolf - as we always see them in the older photos from the parks, but had never actually seen them in the park in the last 15 years that we have been going.
