We were wondering if anyone has visited WDW in early to mid May and could tell us what to expect overall? Thank you...

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

We did a couple of years ago and it was a lovely time of the year to visit - not too busy and the weather was beautiful, sunshine most days and very little rain. The added bonus of visiting at that time of year is the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, which is awesome.

I agree with Cheryl! We've been during early May 3 times and it's a great time to go

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

My mom and I go every year in May usually Early to Mid May but this year we ended up going the last week.

What we like about Early to Mid May is the fact that its nice and warm but it really hasn't started to have its daily rain storm between 3 and 5pm like they do most of the summer. They get rain but most of the time early to mid may is pretty dry.

The Crowds are not that bad at all heavier then January (non holiday time) but way less crowded then the End of May through the end of July and Christmas Week.

The flower and Garden Festival is quite lovely and you would also if you went the Mid May time frame could Hit Star Wars Weekends which if your a fan of the movies is quite fun.

What I didn't like about the End of May this year was the heat was quite higher then it would have been Early May the crowds were noticably larger since you have Memorial Day weekend there. The Flower and Garden festival was still running but most of the flowers were already wilted and looking kind of sad.

If you go Early in May its a very lovely time to go! One that i would recommend very much!

I've visited in May three times, and each time the weather was terrific and the crowds were very manageable. You'll have a great time!

We went in May a few years ago for our honeymoon. It was perfect. The crowds were low, the weather was nice, and the flower and garden festival at EPCOT was going on. It is our favorite time of year to go.

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

I go in May every year and have found it to be one of the best times. The crowds are quite manageable. Not too crowded (like the week after Christmas or July 4th) but it isn't dead either. That being said, I have never had problems fitting in everything I have wanted to do.

Also the weather is great that time of year. It can be hot, which I do like, and usually there isn't a lot of rain. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

Early may is a very good time to go. It's warm without being hot, the crowds are still manageable and it doesn't rain every day in the late afternoon. Enjoy!

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

I have been in May 3 times. The first time was in 2003 for Memorial Day week. The parks weren't that busy and the weather was very nice (rained one day). In 2005 I went the second week in May. It was DEAD and the weather was wonderful (albeit hot). This past year I went again Memorial Day week. OMG it was crazy busy there were huge lines everywhere even for food. I was very surprised. I think it had something to do with the wildfires (highways to the beaches were closed).

The best thing about going in May is the Flower and Garden Festival. It is just wonderful and I go back every year just for the festival (and my birthday which is in early June).

Just bring a poncho and plenty of shorts! You will have a blast it is a great time to visit WDW!

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

We went to WDW the second week in May and LOVED it! It wasn't busy at all and we didn't need any fast passes and walked right on most rides. The Flower and Garden festival is great and the Mother's Day luncheon was wonderful also.

The weather was warm in the day time (not too hot) and cooler at night (not coat cold). It didn't rain the whole week we were there and after talking to a CM at the GF, they said that "Other then the week after Thanksgiving, early May was the best time to visit. Most of the rides are operational, the weather is perfect, and the crowds are low."

After talking with my DH, we decided that when we go back to WDW, it will be in early May, towards Halloween, the week after Thanksgiving and early December.

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

Here's another vote -- I've been three times in early May ('03, '04 and '05) and it was fabu each and every time. Great weather, low crowds and the F&GFestival to top it all off.

Re: What are parks like in May, please???

We went May 10-17th and the weather was beautiful. I am not a big hot weather fan, and loved the mid 80's weather we had during the afternoon. A wonderful morning of 70 degree touring was perfect. We did not notice any big crowds, except for evening EMH and Spectromagic Parade at MK. We had wondeful relaxed touring and saw almost everything that we wanted to. Would I go back at that time for year----YES---!!!!

We were there May 9-16, 2005 and thought it was a great time to go, and like Cheryl said, the Flower and Garden Festival is wonderful.
