That magical haircut... Good morning everybody! 10 days to go and I'm feelin fine! Last night DH mentioned that he needed a haircut, and when I suggested he wait and get his haircut on Mainstreet he totally went for it. He's so excited that you can actually do that and wants to do it first thing before anything! I'm wondering though, does anyone know when the Dapper Dans tend to be in there? I'd love to get the full experience and take his picture with them. Also - will they make his hair blue automatically or do we have to ask them to do that especially? (I'm debating on whether to tell him about that part... hee hee hee ) Thanks for any info you can share.

Re: That magical haircut... I don't think there's any particular schedule as to where and when on Main Street the Dapper Dans perform. We didn't see them when my DS got his hair cut at the barber shop but we did get serenaded by them while having lunch at Tony's Town Square Restaurant. You could always check with Guest Relations at the Magic Kingdom just to see if they do perhaps have any kind of schedule. As for the blue thing, they do ask customers whether or not they want color. And I think you can choose blue, red or green. However, they do not ask before sprinkling you with pixie dust. They even came over to where I was waiting and sprinkled some in my hair as well so they make sure that everyone gets in on the action. Joy

Re: That magical haircut... This is something we look forward to during our December visit. In fact MK is our first park this trip and the plan is to go straight to the Barber Shop first thing. Do they do women's hair too? DW has her hair short so its not like they would have to do some kind of exotic doo.

Re: That magical haircut... Yes, I believe they also do women's hair (not sure how long, but sounds like your wife should be fine)

Re: That magical haircut... We leave Sat. . And I have been debating whether or not I should get my baby's first hair cut there. My hesitation is: 1. Noah is only 9 months and will definatly need a hair cut by the time he turns 1 in December, but a little trim now would be fine. 2. The day we have planned for MK is on Sunday, to celebrate my older son Peter's birthday, he will be 4. So, I don't know how he will feel if we are going ga-ga over Noah's first Hair cut on His birthday. But I really want to do Noah's first Hair Cut at the barbershop. It is just a great memory to be able to share with him. But Peter didn't get that chance so.... Should I juat wait for a return trip when both boys need a haircut and can both have the same experience. I want my boys to always think they were treated fairly by me. (I know, I'm bound to slip up sometime so I might as well get it over with). I'm so concerned about fair treatment that I've already started planning my younger sons birthdat celebration in WDW, for when he turns 3 (if was going to be 4, like his older brother, but the dates don't work out as well). So what do you all think, (Besides the fact that I'm crazy)?

Re: That magical haircut... Get there first thing in the morning...Mike is off on Tuesdays and Wednesday. Not sure what Billies days off are, but they must have subs for them, on thier day off. LEt them know when you plop down in the seat, your ther for a trim and a few laughs, that should let them know you fo with the flow of magic Yes they cut womens hair. But for the most part its a fairly dry cut(misted with water from sprayer), no shampooing involved etc. To us its part of the experience...Husbands had two there and I've had one. They really do it up for a babys first hair cut, you get mouse ears and everything...But the line gets long fairly fast...we got there on a Friday morn and there were two ahead of us upon our 9:30 arrival- but be aware you have to wonder right past a busload of characters that early which may or may not be easy pulling your kids away. Hope that helps....cost is 12-15 dollars Till next I post, PEG

Re: That magical haircut... I would say to go with the baby's first haircut. If you don't you will kick yourself forever. Your birthday boy will have a full day of great surprises and attention so a first haircut shouldn't be too much. I always tried to do everthing even between my two (2years apart in age) and I always regretted it latter. We did most things as even as possible but there are deffinatly times when you have to make exceptions. Hope this helps you

| Re: That magical haircut... We just returned from Disney (10/4-10/11) and had our 17 month old sons first hair cut at the Harmony Baraber Shop ! Michael was fantastic with our son! He takes the time to calm them first if need be, and makes sure Mom is nearby. It's a very special memory! Definatly worth it! We went on Friday after the character meet and greet was over and there was only a father and son ahead of us. I think as long as your son can sit up on his own he'll be fine. They use the old style barber chairs so it would be difficult to hold him. Don't be concerned about the birthday boy. Take him to City Hall to get his official "It's My Birthday" pin for unlimited special treatment all day long every where you go! You'll cherish these memories for ever! Bring the video camera!
