I got my PM at Maestro Mickey's in 2003 or 2004, and I never took "the Pal Mickey Oath". What is that??

April 2008 will be my DD's first trip to WDW, and Pal Mickey is actually the first thing she wants to get. My sister-in-law went this past spring and my youngest nephew came back with one. DD has been talking about it ever since <g>.

I have the original version of Pal Mickey from 2003. Is there anywhere else he can be updated besides Main St. Cinema at MK? I'm not planning on going to MK until my second day and was planning on going to AK my first day. I'd really like to share my Pal Mickey w/ my friend Kelly though, as it's her first trip. I'm wondering if it's worth bringing him if they're just going to say no.

My daughter got a Pal Mickey as a Christmas present last year. He worked fine through our return trip in April but then he got a serious case of the 'hiccups'. We changed the batteries and he'd work for awhile but still caught the 'hiccups'. My daughter was pretty upset as she loves playing the games with him at home and in the parks. When we got back to the World last month I took him back to the Main St. Cinema and explained the problem. I guess this was pretty common because after doing some tweaking the CM gave us a new one. He's worked perfectly ever since.

main street cinema and once upon a toy are the two places i'm aware of that can physically reprogram him. it's going to get even more complicated because the king's gallery which was pushed out of the castle due to BBB will be moving into the main street cinema space in october/november. VMK is reportedly moving to the tomorrowland arcade but i'm not clear on what it means for pal mickey

Thanks Brad.

I'm planning on going to DTD upon my arrival to WDW that first night, so Once Upon a Toy will work well, I'd also heard that Main St. Cinema would be closed for rehab, so this will be better, anyway.

we have the original Pal Mickey (my cat likes to hug and nap on him on occasion) but I was wondering about the new Pal Mickey.. is the upgrade only available for the later versions or can I bring in my original Pal Mickey from a few Dec. ago and pay for an upgrade? I guess that's what I still don't understand from the posts here.

Also does he just chatter on like the original with the cheesy jokes?? I like the idea of getting him little outfits. I had fun looking for outfits (we didn't find the one she was looking for) with a new Passporter friend last December during the MVMCP and sort of wished our Pal Mickey could do the outfits. I also like that it's been long enough it would be worth the update.. but $65 seems a bit steep, so if we could upgrade it.. (he's like-new honestly) that would be neat.. then again, DH might be humored into getting a new one just because. (I haven't asked him yet).

Plus is the new clip more stable?? The reason we dont bring him back is that his clip came undone after a few days, and as it was you had to hold him up to your ear like a walkie talkie to see what he was saying..

Wink Updating Pal Mickey

Pal Mickey is the best but he does get pretty chatty sometimes. =) I found you may need extra batteries, my husband and I used up one set on our first day because we listened to things over and over. Just bring a pack of AA from home and you'll be all set.
As for updating, if you have any problems with a new or old Pal Mickey you can go to any of the shops that sell him and they will reprogram him for you. Apparently Micky misbehaves sometimes and needs to get an attitude adjustment. I'll attach the link from Disney.com that tells all the shops. We got our first at the Camera Shop at Epcot. My second a Happiest Celebration edition I got at the International Gateway store. My third I bought at Saratoga Springs and he was acting up so the Main St Cinema reprogrammed him for me.

Walt Disney World Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . .

This page shows all of the places Mickey can be bought and what he interects with.

Enjoy he's lots of fun, and the bad jokes are good, too.

Just Bought

I just got the sorcerer's edition and i love him I have used him in two parks so far MGM and EPCOT. I looked at the web site that was mentioned above and mine didn't go off that much in MGM. He didn't tell me about somethings that was mentioned like
  • Beauty and the Beast stage show
  • Sorcerer's Hat character greetings
  • Fantasmic
  • Mickey Avenue character greetings
  • Stars and Motor Cars Parade
and some other things. Do I need to think about getting him reprogramed or should i wait and see if it happens agin? i need someone's advise. Once agin i love pal mickey no matter how many times i hear the jokes and all it makes me laugh I will be going back soon and can't wait to see what he does in the other two parks.

We purchased Pal Mickey for DS (7) in Sept. at Meastro (sp?) Mickey's. We had soooo much fun with him in the parks. I kept DS occupied waiting in lines or for ADR's. We got the Sorcerer version. He was a bit pricey ($69.00) including tax but was well worth it!!!!
