I don't care what they call it as long as TOT and RNR are there.

Well, it's the "Hollywood" Tower of Terror... and the RnRC takes you through Hollywood (at least, that's what I always thought the point of the ride was... a trip to the concert in LA)... and there's the whole Vintage Hollywood look of the main walk up to the Graumann's theater which is in Hollywood...

So it makes sense to me... The name evokes that sense that you're entering a fantasy-Hollywood where the classic movies and LA-vibe are in the air...

It also seems to me that they're moving away from the idea that the studios are "functioning" ... I haven't heard of a real movie or TV show being filmed there (with the exception of Millionaire every once in a while) in quite some time.... That would also explain some of the rumors that the backlot tour is going to be scrapped... why have a backlot (and even that's been shrinking) if you're not really making movies!!

When I was a kid MGM was my favorite park... I loved that I "might" get to see a glimpse of a "real actor" ... or see a director or techie on the backlot tour when you went through the bungalos. I think that feeling has gone (at least for me)... I'm hoping that the park will create some sort of new magic feel for me that encompasses a fantasy-movie-land....

Well, that was certainly long winded... and all I wanted to do was say was that I like the name. I'm hoping it means a new direction of the "magic" at the studios!

Brad... since DHS is the new acronym and is shared with the Department of Homeland Security... I liked your comment on the other board about having the hat light up to the current terror level!!! I think that'd be a nice addition!

They should have kept it Disney MGM Studios. Even with the name change we will still refer to it as MGM.

What next..... are they going to change the name of the Magic Kingdom?

It doesn't matter what they call it to me, but I don't think that "Hollywood" really fits in

I always call it MGM too, so I'll probably continue. But, I do kind of like the new name.

It's definitely going to take some getting used to. "Hollywood" makes think of California though so that's throwing me off. I'll probably just call it Disney Studios or Disney-MGM still!

Studios

We have always called it MGM. I'm not so good with changes but we will see if the new name clicks when we return in January 2008.

I really like it - I think it fits in with the theming of the park really well.
