Water Parks Advice

We're hoping that it will be warm enough in just 9 days (!) to visit Blizzard Beach for our 1st Disney water park experience I've NEVER been to any water park anywhere but DH has taken the girls to a little place at the beach in NC where they had some water slides - NOTHING like what Disney has.

I've read the FAQ pages on AllEars but I'm still worried about this LOL We're flying and I usually don't pack beach towels since we can get towels at the resort pool. I know we can rent towels at BB - is this what most people do? Do you use lockers? How difficult is it to get a chair for your stuff? Is it safe to leave money and what-nots in your locker? Uh, what else do I need to know? LOL Our group is just me, DH, and my girls who are "almost" 10 and 7-1/2. They're pretty good swimmers and are really looking forward to checking out BB. I'm just anxious about the whole thing! LOL

Thanks!

We did rent our towels and we brought our own towels. So we've done it both ways. We always rent a locker. Its a MUST. The lockers are large enough to hold a beach bag but if you have two bags especially with children i would consider renting two. You get the money back at the end of the day. I did not carry money last time i left it in the locker and went back to get it when it was time to eat. However at my next trip i may buy one of the money holders you can wear around your neck. There were plenty of chairs and our stuff was safe lying there until we returned. My observation has always been to get there early if you want to have good seats.
We are actually going to Blizzard Beach in april but i have been in march and its nice at that time of the year. But its hit or miss sometimes with the temps. BB is my fav of the water parks and i really enjoy the lazy river. My advice....if you burn easy take plenty of sunscreen because its mostly white with the fake snow and the sun reflects off of it on to you. You can get easliy burned if you dont take precautions with sunscreen. Hope you have a great time!

I wouldn't worry, BB is lots of fun, my DD's have been enjoying it since they were 9 and 7. We've always taken our own towels, but we do rent a locker and our money and belongings have always been safe. Our visits have always been in the summer and we open the park to avoid long lines, we've never had trouble securing chairs at that time of day, but I imagine the later in the day you arrive the less available they will be. This time of year will probably be much less busy. Enjoy your time there!

We took our own towels. I put large ziploc bags in my backpack to put wet things in so the backpack wouldn't get soaked. We didn't rent a locker and our stuff was perfectly fine. We arrived in the early afternoon in late Aug and didn't have any problem finding a couple of chairs. Have fun!

We brought towels from our hotel room (hey, this trip was spendy enough already...) and didn't rent a locker since my mom went with us and didn't want to swim. So she staked out a table in the shade, burried her feet in the sand and we left everything with her! We also brought snacks and water bottles. We went to TL, not BB, but I'm sure that things run pretty much the same at both. Don't forget to reapply the sunscreen though, because in January we all got toasted even with putting on lots of the waterproof stuff before we started!

Last June was our first water park trip as well to BB. DS was 8 at the time and loved it. DW and I had always wanted to go to a big water park but took the plunge last year and loved it. BB is great and not that bad for early June. The lines were not that bad except for the bigger slides. The towel rental was easy and we did use the lockers. You can carry one room key for ID and to charhe things back to the room. Some smaller stations only accept cash. DS bought a refillable mug as well. Lots of good photo ops as well. We are making our first trip home in May and are planning on Typhoon Lagoon.

You'll all have a great time.

Get there early and find a space to place your things. Don't take any valuables with you, so you don't have to worry about them or rent a locker. I used one of those waterproof holders you wear around your neck, to hold room keys, credit card, and cash. (they can often be found in the resort gift shops (I got mine at CBR) and they definitely have them for sale in the waterparks. Towels and clothing and such are safe by your chairs. If you want to take pictures, buy a disposable camera before your trip and use it at the waterpark so you don't have to worry about it.

Do the attractions when you first get there and save the wave pool and lazy river until you tire of the slides. If you want anything from the little stands you'll need cash; the larger food joints will take your room charge or credit card. Try the little donuts (found at a cart to the right of the wave pool area near the front)...they are so yummy! If you plan to make a day of it, get a couple refillable mugs to share for drinks.

DH and I went to BB last April around the 1st! We had a blast! I never burn but I was as red as a tomato and hurt the rest of the visit! OMG I had a hard time to wear my bra ! So load up on the sun screen! We rented a locker for our money and our dry cloths! We also rented towels there but if you like a BIG towel bring your own! I would have no problem taking my kids to BB and they are only 7, 4 & 2! Your kids should have a blast! Make sure to get your pic done with the melting snowmen family! LOL

Thanks, everyone - it does sound like a lot of fun! You guys made me feel more comfortable, knowing what to store in a locker and what can be safe by a chair (if we get one). We're early morning people so I'm thinking to get there for opening, although the weather will play a large part with this decision - we were there last Easter in early April and the temps ranged anywhere from in the 80's to the low 60's and much, much colder in the mornings so we'll see!

Thanks to all!

This is exactly what we've done both times we went to BB. We bought the waterproof holder at the POR resort store, brought towels from the resort and arrived at the park opening and snagged a couple of chairs. I brought a disposable waterproof camera and carried it on my wrist.
It is truly a great place to spend a day!
