Tour Plan Mike vs. Tourplan .com, update

Hi guys. I decided to bite the bullet and try out Tour Guide Mike after the original post of this title. I had always used the calendar on All Ears, and when they stopped, I used their link to tourplan.com and subsribed for the $4.95 for the year. Then I read the stuff here on tour guide mike and decided to try it. I paid the $21.95 (?around that) for my August trip. I have to say that if you have gone to WDW a few times, you might not need it. If you are going for the first or second time, it is probably worth it. He had some nice tips, but really, I knew all of them. From being a long time All Ears(several years) and Passporter (2years) person, you have a lot of knowledge! Also, we all have different families with different ages and tastes, and even the best tour guide can't beat the knowledge you have from just "knowing" your family.

If you are an avid plan-a-holic like myself, you probably don't need the tourguide mike site. I had already planned my days by the other, cheaper, site and it matched what tourguide mike's site suggested. I like to do the parks my way, the way that is tried and true for my family. If you are someone who doesn't like to go over their plans again, and again, and again, you might like all the info and advice he gives you. You could very easily print out some things and just follow his advice without a lot of planning time.

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps. A disclaimer, I am a self confessed control freak. Also, the planning I put into a Disney trip is a lot of the fun for me. I like to plan, ask questions on the boards, plan some more, and so on.

I've often wondered that myself. Having been to WDW 12 times, I feel like I have a fairly good handle on things. But I was still curious as to whether or not it would be worth it to purchase TGM. It's nice to hear your opinion, thank you!!

I purchased TGM the first time this year. Except for his best park days I don't find his tips all that useful. As Christi said I know my family and what works best for them.

I have been to WDW several times but do not in any way consider myself an expert. Plus I have had several year long or more breaks in between these visits. I purchased the Tour Guide Mike subscription mainly because I am going with my sister's family (two kids, 5 & almost 3) and it is their first time. I don't have any WDW touring experience with kids and I wanted their first time to be "worth it" as far as seeing as much as they can handle. I like TourGuideMikes plans because he has afternoon breaks which is something we are planning this trip. Usually I don't worry about this. I think I have learned a lot from his plans and I don't know that I would purchase again. I agree with Pam in that I am hoping his "best park days" works out for us. I do have one negative comment about something I have noticed in that it seems a lot of his information is outdated or at least not updated frequently.

Anyway my $0.02.
