Disney fairies

Has anyone besides us read all the fairy books? They are AWESOME!! My DH's fave books to read with our DD5 so far. I highly recommend them. With that in mind....has the fairy craze really hit WDW yet in terms of merchandise? I know last year or the year before that all this fairy stuff came out but we were not into the books or anything yet. Can't wait to see the TInk movie (BTW - she is a pots and pans fairy...all the fairies have their own talent and a new fairy is born when a baby laughs for the first time! )

DD loves the books. I like how each fairy has her own special talent -- a good thing for all of us to think about.
But I've heard that the fairies movie is going to be a direct-to-DVD release, which is disappointing. I'd hoped to see Tink on the big screen.

There are about 11 or so books. I love that all of them have a little lesson, too, without being preachy - like patience, being kind, etc.

The books totally rock!

We don't actually have the "kids" books but the ones that tell us of the "beginnings" of Pixie Hollow and they are FANTASTIC. The artwork is amazing. I told the people in the bookstore that they were for my DD but they were actually for me.

I am dreading my daughter asking me to "see" Tink and the other Fairies when we go to WDW! Hopefully the "their too small to see" story will be accepted.

And it is official the movie is a direct to DVD release.

oh my gosh!! the fairy books are the best.
about the movie- i'm dissapointed that the original fairies don't seem to be in it, such as rani, and prilla.
there are tons of fairy merchandise. at magic kingdom, go to Tinker Bell's Treasures. they have the most of the fairy merchandise you can find.

Cool! I didn't notice the fairy merchandise last year but maybe that's because we weren't into them then! How do you know which fairies are in the movie?

I know one 16yr old that will be in line for the Tink movie. We might even try for sneak preview tickets. Tink is her favorite character and it is a must see for her.

I you are there during a Pirate and Princess party, do not miss it. A real-life Tinkerbell is in the Parade. I think DW was as thrilled as my kids.

OK - what are these fairy books and where do you get them? What age are they intended for? Thanks in advance!

Us

We have all of them (twin DD's are 5). We haven't gotten the new Ready To Read books yet, though (saw them in Target).

The movie was due out in the theaters last summer, but when it was test-screened, they found that they had made the movie for the wrong age group. So, the movie went back to production and is supposed to be out at the end of this summer to early Autumn. They had a ton of stuff out last year when the movie was scheduled to come out and have been slowly getting in new stuff with the new characters recently.

There have been rumors that Tink and her friends will start appearing at the parks when the movie comes out, and there were a few spottings of Rani last spring, but we'll see.

You actually wont *have* to tell your daughter they're too small (unless you just don't want to hunt them down) because WDW and DL are both instituting Walk-around fairy face characters of Tink, Rosetta, Iridessa, Fawn, and Silvermist- starting when the movie comes out at the end of October.
