I don't think the Kinley Lemon was that bad, but it isn't one I would necessarily guzzle down. A sip here and there is fine but I don't think I would drink a whole can or glass of it.

The Beverly was gross. DH didn't think it was that bad, but he still made "the face" . . . and DD thought it was disgusting (as evidenced by her face in this pic ):

I don't remember any of them other than Beverly, which was nasty. I gave it to dh and he looked like he was going to be sick. The others must not have been than bad if they don't stick out in my mind.

They were out of the China and Japan drinks when we went (a shame as I think I might have liked the watermelon one). My favourite of those I did try was the Mezzo Mix (German).

Bitter. Very bitter.

It is an aperitif. Some Italians use aperitifs before eating a meal to "stimulate" their appetites . . . this stuff will make you drool, for sure. But not necessarily in a good way.

Sorry, I have to put in my 2 cents- I think it stimulates your appetite by making you want to eat something to get the taste out of your mouth! But DH DID like Beverly, so if you like bitter things...

Smart Watermelon and the ginger ale. But I have a funny Beverly story (most people probably do . . .)

My SIL is mentally handicapped and eager to please. We all tried the Beverly and immediately tossed the rest into the trash, then went on to taste the others. After about five minutes, I took a look at her and she had this disgusted look on her face and very little Beverly left. She didn't realize that she could throw it away (she must not have seen the rest of us do it) and kept drinking it! Blech! I said to her, "Oh, sweetie, you don't have to finish that, throw it away!" She thanked me and threw that cup in the trash as fast as possible. Everyone else noticed then that she had drunk almost the whole thing and we all (including SIL - she has a great sense of humor) had a good laugh. I felt so bad she just kept drinking and drinking and . . .
