Hey WFD welcome to the boards! I just returned from the world. It was my first time back to Disney since 1990! I found one change that they have made, is that on most of the rides that are fast or bumby, they have elastic top pouches to place fanny packs or small backpacks in right in your car or seating area. Like on Everest, there is a large pouch attached to the seat back right in front of each person. So each person has a pouch to put things in. Just remember to get it out of there at the end of the ride. I forgot once and had to wait till my train came through again to get it back!! If your pack is on the larger side, you can loop it around your leg on many rides and keep it under your legs.. Other wise most places there is an area to leave things while you ride. Things seem to be safe there also.
Hope I helped!

I usually loop it around my legs. DH and I take one larger (backpack) size bag instead of two smaller ones. This way it's less likely we'll leave something behind and getting through security is faster.

I took our bag on every single ride. I used the provided storage place on some, I held it in my lap on kiddie rides, and I put my leg throug the strap on others.

We do the loop thing, too! It even works on rides like Rock N Roller Coaster.

Oh, and to the boards!

The only ride I have found that I can fit my backpack in the storage net is the safari ride in AK. Otherwise, I loop it around my legs too.

Boy it nice to have a wheelchair for this. Especially there at WDW were I do not have to get out of my chair , there are a few where you need to. But last time I didn't want to, besides my parent were not able to left me while we were there.

We took our bag on pretty much every ride we rode. There were a few exceptions to that (my mom didn't ride some of the rides we rode so she kept it on those rides). I don't think my bag would have fit in the storage area for Kali River Rapids so it was left with my mom who stayed behind with DS.
