Question Disney transportation to Downtown Disney

Hi everyone:

We would like to go at least once to Downtown Disney during our upcoming trip. We will be staying at WL and Poly. I thought I recalled reading that Disney transportation to Downtown Disney doesn't start until the afternoon? Is this true? I'm probably just overwhelmed with planning issues since our trip is only a couple of months away - it doesn't sound right to me. I know it is more crowded in the evenings, so was wondering if it would be better to go earlier in the day - it will be me, DH, DD and DS (both 9) and DS2 (9 months), so we wanted to minimize stress / crowds.

Thanks

The shops at DTD are open at 9:30 AM and the busses are running much earlier than that The boats from DTD to places like POFQ/POR don't start until 11 AM I think, so maybe that's what you were thinking??

We always go first thing in the morning, to minimize the crowds

Also remember that the buses to DTD only run from the resorts and not from the parks. This is to keep people from parking at DTD for free and going to a park.

Thanks for the responses I guess we will arrange to take a bus from our resort, hopefully earlier than evening. I probably can't persuade my kids to go to DTD in the morning!

What you might recall is that the DTD buses would skip the Pleasure Island stop earlier in the day. After West Side opened up, the buses started visiting all DTD stops in the morning. At least for the next few weeks, the buses stop visiting the Marketplace stop at about 12:30 pm, and stop visiting the Pleasure Island stop after 2:00 am. Once Pleasure Island closes, I suspect bus service to DTD will stop at around 12:30 or 1:00 am.
