Which Turnstile to Use?

Hi everyone! I have been reading these boards and getting great information for several years, but haven't posted very often. Now, I have a question I don't think I have ever seen on here before.

When you arrive at a park early (before opending) in the morning, how do you know which turnstiles they will be using? We usually just get in a line behind other people, but I've seen people walk up and start a new line at an empty turnstile. I've always been afraid if I do that, it won't be manned when they open and I will be stuck going to the back of another line. Any ideas?

We went to Tusker House early before AK opened.....there was a sign directing us to the correct turnstile. I am sure all the parks do something similar to direct guests to the correct line. Have a great time!!!

I think the ones that are available would have cast member nearby, wouldn't they?

Last trip we went to Epcot and there were several long lines but at one turnstile there wasnt anyone so we just formed a new line. I believe the front of the turnstiles have lit arrows for telling you what line to get into.

So maybe the ones with the green arrows lit are all going to open?

Thanks for the responses!

As far as open turnstiles, the green arrow indicates it's ready for guests to proceed through. If you have an early ADR, I've heard that CM's have a clipboard with your name on it. That wasn't the case for our 8:00 am ADR at Crystal Palace though, so maybe someone can confirm that practice.

If you have an early ADR, there will be a few open (and they should be marked). If you're going during EMH, again there should be CMs there directing you if you are resort guests, to use whichever turnstiles and to have your KTTW card out

We usually find there's a sign to show you which ones they're using.

I've found that they tend to have quite a few turnstiles open immediately at opening. Generally, an "open" turnstile will have a green arrow and a "closed" turnstile will have a red x on it. Buuuuuut, they will open more turnstiles as soon as they feel the need.

My standard approach is to move to the farthest side (either left or right) and get in line there. However, I stay prepared and watchful of the turnstiles next to me -- if I see a CM come over to open a new one, I'm ready to hop.

Eileen

PS - yes, if you have an early ADR, there is usually a "sandwich board" sign to either the far right or far left of the turnstiles that clearly indicates it's the line for those with early ADRs. This is manned by at least one CM, who should be checking your name against their list of ADRs.

Wink

Thanks again for all the great responses! We don't have early ADR's. I meant to be asking for general admission. Sorry about the confusion! I will look for the green arrows and red "x's" and stay ready to make the jump.

We had no problem getting to the correct area when we had ADRs to CRT at MK before it opened. The CM were very visable and were asking and directing people.
