| Soarin' & motion sickness I can't do roller coasters or anything too fast/spinning. I have been on Star Tours and the first time I went on it in 2004 it made me feel mildly ill. When I went on it last February (2008) I didn't have the same reaction, although I had prepared myself for how I would react in advance so that might have helped. I'm curious as to how Soarin' stacks up in the motion sickness area. It looks really cool, but I am afraid I'll leave the ride with a spinning head and stomach. It looks like it might be a little too elevator/airplane take-off and landing for me. But I really want to check it out. Thoughts? (and thanks!)

| You might want to do a search on +soarin +"motion sickness" as this question has been answered before and gotten GREAT responses. My personal take is that sitting in the dead center in the second row gives me the best view without any visual distortions that can unsettle the tummy. Just mention it to the CM loading people into rows and tell them that you'd be willing to wait a cycle if you could be accomodated. They'll usually do that without a problem. I don't have motion sickness problems on Soarin'... but others have reported various issues. See what you find in a search! ![]() Eileen PS - here are a couple of threads that I remember having good responses that might help: Soarin' if afraid of heights Motion Sick on Soarin Soarin and Motion Sickness

| Thanks for the tip. I searched for Soarin, but not the motion sickness part which could be why I didn't find much. I shall check it out.

| I know DH has suffered in the past from motion sickness on this, but he did it absolutely fine in October.

| Everyone's level of mostion sickness can be different, but I think that if you were able to do Star Tours that you'd be fine on Soarin'. It just my opinion of course. I had some trouble with Star Tours but I can do all the other roller coasters and stuff. Soarin' was much easier for me.

| The first time I rode Soarin' I had a little motion sickness. It only lasted a couple of minutes. My suggestion for this is and I can't guarantee it will work. You can buy wristbands for motion sickness, pregnancy, chemo etc. You bought them at the pharmacy. The first cruise I went on, my doctor prescribed pills to take for sea sickness and they made me sicker. I went to the onboard store and bought the wrist bands and I was better in 30 minutes. The don't cost that much and it might be worth a try. |

| The first time I rode Soarin', I got a little motion sick. But as the ride continued, I was fine. I can't do Star Wars tours because of all the movement but DS can. I can do Soarin' and DS gets sick. Go Figure! ![]()

| I have never had problems on Soarin with motion sickness, but I certainly have motion issues in general. If you start feeling woozy I suggest closing your eyes for a moment. Soarin is almost all visual with very little actual motion involved.

| I suffer from motion sickness big time. soarin doesn't bother me one little bit. I think it's because it's so realistic. ![]()

| I have some pretty sensitive motion sickness. I have only have had trouble one time on Soarin' and I was able to close my eyes and get it together. It is now one of my favorite rides.

| I felt a little ..er ... unwell after shall we say after thundermountian, spacemountain and another is epcot Mission space (I think). but Sorin' I absolutley loved. No twists or turns and lots of breeze on my face...maybe that was the difference for me. it was such a free uninhibited feeling.

| Soarin' is more likely to affect those bothered by inside motion sickness, rather than those affected by harsh movements. It is a gentle ride that may affect those who get sick on ships and such. However! I am fine when I'm not enclosed (outside on a boat, with car windows down, etc). I don't ride Star Tours because it upsets my stomach. But this ride is fine. And I can tell you why. They simulate a breeze and the smells of what you're flying over. It tricks my body into believing that I'm really outside flying on a hang glider. If Star Tours only made you mildly upset, I'd say it's worth one try to see how you do.

| The part that bothers me the most is near the end when you are traveling through downtown LA. Don't know why, but I get really dizzy. I usually just close my eyes and my friend will tap me when its over. I'm fine for the rest of the flight.

| I suffer from motion sickness too, but Soaring did not affect me one bit. I think I was too busy making sure my feet didn't drag when we went over a ridge (hows that for realism in a ride). This is a pretty calm ride as they go, if you made it thru star tours you should have no problem here
