| Hi Everyone- We are leaving Wednesday and will be arriving late afternoon. We're DVC members, so we will be buying the discounted AP's. I'd like to buy them on Wednesday so we're ready to go on Thursday morning. Since we're staying at SSR, I was thinking Downtown Disney would be easiest. I've never purchased tickets here. Is it still open now that Pleasure Island no longer exists? If it does, where exactly is it and what are the hours of operation? Thanks in advance for any help!

| Tickets can be purchased at DTD Guest Services, which is next to Team Mickey's. APs cannot be purchased at the PI ticket window, which I'm pretty sure is not in use at all right now.

| Just so you're prepared, I went to get our boarding passes there on our final night and the line was pretty slow moving. I don't know if this is the norm or not, but there were only 2 CMs working and the line grew incredibly fast. There were only 3 groups of people in front of me and it took 20 minutes for me to get to the desk. It seemed like most people were purchasing their park passes, but all had done no research as to what their options were. Hopefully, no one is in line when you arrive, but thought I'd throw that out there just in case there is - I wouldn't waste too much time there; if you arrive well before park opening on your first day, you might receive faster service, since those guests will be forced to purchase their tickets at the ticket window.

| We bought DVC discounted AP's at DTD guest services on Dec. 21. There was somewhat of a line (we waited about 15 minutes), but once it was our turn, it was easy as could be. We were converting one day passes into DVC AP's and the cm knew exactly what I wanted to do and it was done easily. The only issue was that we had the dining plan on our package and he said sometimes it screws that up, but it didn't and all went smoothly. Enjoy your AP's!

| Thanks for the additional suggestions! I'm glad to hear they can easily take care of the DVC discount. We would usually wait until we hit the parks, but we have an 8:30 ADR at Epcot the next morning and don't want to risk it with a 5 month old! Hopefully we'll catch Guest Services at the right time!

| best Disney ticket strategies Since I got some helpful tips about buying Disney tickets in the above Priceline Florida forum, I thought it might be helpful to others to share my results here. Essentially, if you just want to buy tickets for a couple of days, there is no way to game the system. The adult tickets are like $68/day, and kids under 10 are almost as much. So to get your "money's worth," the trick is to either plan a much longer vacation where a multi-day ticket dramatically reduces your per-day ticket cost, or to "invest" in future Disney tickets for your family. I chose the latter. What I was able to do was buy a 10-day no-expiration-ever Disney ticket for $360 all-in, $330 for kids under 10 (called something like Magic Your Way Plus), in which they also threw in 5-additional your-choice no-expiration days at their related Orlando attractions like the Blizzard Beach water park and DisneyQuest. Mind you, these "freebies" are also very expensive tickets, too -- over $30/day if you bought them individually. So if you do the math, you can see it's a much better value, provided you are willing to fork over the cash in advance and want to do that much Disney in the future (btw, you can't sell or give away excess days -- they take a biometric reading of your finger at the gate). My family travels to Florida a lot (at least every year), so I figure we'll use up all our days within the next 5 years, probably in 2 or 3 day blocks (when the kids turn 10, Disney converts their passes to adult passes at no extra charge). Obviously everyone's circumstances are different, but it just seemed like a better deal than forking over $68/day. Also now, I can treat my kids to regular Disney vacations, where otherwise I would dread them, given the outrageous single-day ticket fees. I bought these tickets over the weekend through undercovertourist.com, on a tip from the comprehensive mousesavers.com website. Sadly, I suspect, others may have to pay a little more for them. The greedy folks at Disney (sorry, they really do seem greedy to me) have just raised ticket prices again, and undercovertourist was selling their remaining stock of "old price" tickets. Since the tip was pulled from mousesavers today, I suspect that supply has been exhausted. But by shopping around (mousesavers has a monthly newsletter with ticket deals), you should be able to buy a similar 10-day ticket for maybe 5 to 10% more. Good luck, and save up, because any way you do it, Disney is expensive! |

| I just checked everywhere (including Mousesavers.com) and don't see any information about Disney raising their ticket prices recently. (The last time ticket prices went up was in August of 2008, making a one-day adult ticket around $75, tax included) I agree, it always pays to buy the longest length ticket you can afford -- your per-day costs go down dramatically once you invest in a 5-day pass and it can be as little as a dollar or two to add an additional day once you're in the 8-day range. Another way to save is to sign up for Mousesavers.com's free newsletter. In each month's newsletter, she provides a link to a special "subscriber's discount" at one of the ticket brokers -- usually it's Undercovertourist.com. That can save about $5 off most tickets and you can sometimes snag additional deals. Currently, UCT has deals where you get "extra days" added. While I like to park hop, dropping that feature is also a money-saver -- but be careful of doing this in peak-seasons. You may find that you are "stuck" in a park that is wall-to-wall people. Being able to hop can make all the difference in your touring experience. My favorite way to save is to get an annual pass. Not only do we tend to take longer trips every year, we also plan to take them in such a way as to get the most use out of those APs (and their accompanying discounts.) If we plan to go the second week in December in 2009, we take our next vacation the first week of December 2010.... all on the same AP. Good luck to all looking for the best prices on tickets! Eileen

| We bought our AP's at night in a park guest service window. No wait, just walked right up to a window. Don't forget to bring photo ID.
