We were wondering the same thing. We were going to look for signs of construction on our upcoming trip and get lots of pictures of the area as it is now.

I can't wait for them to finish, but i kind-of liked knowing my way around by memory. I still ge confused looking for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, and that was changed a long time ago.

My husband was so mad when they took 2000 Leagues Under the Sea out! He had been to WDW 6 times by that point and every time he went, it was closed down for some reason and he couldn't ride. He did mention that, looking back on it, at least once it may not have been closed. He was young and could not have ridden by himself, and his mom has serious claustrophobia and wouldn't have ridden. Maybe she just told him it was closed to avoid an argument?
I look forward to seeing the changes, but wish they would do some more boy oriented things, too.

To be honest - though I hate seeing the nostalgic attractions disappear, the 20,000 Leauges ride WAS claustrophobic. It was uncomfortable and warm too.

Most of the additions and such (with the exception of the demolition of Toontown) are behind the current Fantasyland, so I am thinking that it is doubtful that we'll see much of the work being done until later on when they start moving into the existing Fantasyland and then onto theToontown removal and such over there. The last bits of it (Pixie Hollow and other things that will be in the Toontown area) are due to open up in 2013.

Parts might be, but I haven't heard anything that would indicate that the whole land would be. :

As for Goofy's Barnstormer, it will close for a while but only so that it can get a makeover, as it is being rethemed to a circus theme coaster. As I understand it, that is really the only thing from the current Toontown that will be staying.

I haven't heard anything yet about a start date either, although the impression I've got from all the reports is that they'll be aiming to keep as much running as possible during construction.

Gosh I am really behind the times I didnt know they were going to do anything. I went back into post and found the info on the things they are going to be doing, All I can say is Wow and the Grandkids will love it. Glad Dumbo is going to be larger and the waiting seems it will be fun just trying to figure out how you will know it is your turn to ride if you are walking around playing games. All very interesting though. Grandson will not be happy when they close Star tours for upgrades.

Ohhhhh, I hope they don't close down anything. I'm taking my kids for the first time in Sept. Something else to worry about!

I just found this

Fantasyland

When does construction begin?
Construction is speculated to begin late 2009/early 2010

Will the expansion of Fantasyland impact my trip to Fantasyland during construction between 2010 and 2013?
Disney have said that the existing Fantasyland will not be affected during the expansion, and all the attractions will remain open during, and after construction. Dumbo is being moved, but it isn't clear yet what downtime that will involve.

What will happen to Mickey's Toontown Fair?
Mickey's Toontown Fair will be removed to make way for what will be the Pixie Hollow area of Fantasyland. It is expected that the Barnstormer (likely to be rethemed) will remain. The Mickey and Minnie meet and greet is rumored to be relocated to the Expo Hall on Main Street USA.
