| Fear of Heights and Soarin' I am afraid of heights, so I have yet to try out Soarin' at Epcot. Next trip, DH and I are going by ourselves and this is his favorite attraction. He tells me that I'll be just fine, but I'm not believing him. Can anyone convince me that I won't fall off the ride and kill myself? Do you feel like you're really high in the air? Any tips on getting through this attraction without sedatives?

| On Soarin', you are wearing a seat belt and you feel very secure. I'm not found of heights myself and I had no problem. It is a spectacular ride and you would kick yourself to miss it! |

| I love Soarin, so of course I highly recommend you give it a chance. If you ever feel like you are too high and get scared, you can always close your eyes and remind yourself that it's just a movie! The actual seat you are in really isn't very high at all. (Of course, once it starts I don't think you'll have the ability to close your eyes because it is such a beautiful ride!!)

| I am afraid of heights, mostly open air ...think top cruise ship deck (i actually had to be helped off the Queen Mary when i was on the tour because I had a panic attack when i stepped out on the deck and saw how high I was). I rode Sorin' for the first time in June and loved it!! I found if I just looked straight ahead rather then down on the screen I was fine. If I did happen to look down, I did get the "sensation" but quickly would look up and it was gone! i say definately try it or you'll always be asking "Hmmm, should I have tried???"

| I'm afraid of heights as well. I found it to be a really easy ride that didn't affect my fear at all. You can always look down and see that you really aren't that high up off the floor.

| I have a pretty good fear of heights (had a panic attack on the flight deck of DH's aircraft carrier when we went on a tour after he got home in April) . . . but I love Soarin'. I have found that if I ever have "that" feeling during the ride, closing my eyes or looking straight ahead really does work! My mother is quite afraid of heights as well and she has braved Soarin' many times and said she enjoys it as well! ![]() It is definitely worth at least one try!

| You may be able to ask to be in the lowest row, closest to the floor. But it truly is something everyone should experience one time. My DH skipped it for his fear too, and I tried to persuade him. Oh well. I'll try again next trip because it really isn't as bad as you would think.

| Another skeeerdycat here! I actually get mild vertigo in "height" situations and, I have to say, Soarin' doesn't affect me after those first few seconds. Once I'm out of the clouds and looking at the Golden Gate bridge, I'm calm as a cucumber. I'd say, ask for a seat on the lowest row, dead center for your first time. Being able to see the feet dangling above you may help calm you down. And, knowing that you're only a few feet above the actualy ground is reassuring. Once you've done it, you may find that you're able to do it from the top row at a later time. ![]() Eileen

| I am also really afraid of heights and have slight motion sickness and do fine on Soarin'. What helps me is to be on the 2nd or 3rd row. I rarely close my eyes but concentrate on the feet above me or look at my DD or DS beside me to keep that sick feeling at bay. It is a great ride and not to be missed.

| Soarin' is spectaular! My mom is afraid of heights and went on this again and again with no problem! Try it! I think you have been provided with good advice. If you are truly anxious, ask to be in the lowest row and you will note that you really aren't far from the ground. You are strapped in very securely. |

| I am totally afraid of heights and this is my favorite ride! When ride first moves you up to the screen it takes a moment to get yourself reoriented so to speak but then it is just amazing!

| I've never felt that high in the air and, with the seatbelt, I always feel secure. ![]()
