Around the World on Segway

I booked my Segway tour today (with a not-so-friendly CM). He seemed grumpy when I asked him questions so I just stopped asking and decided to ask my Pass Porter experts instead.
I booked it for 8:30 AM. I'm staying at CR. I learned from postings on the "planning" page that I'll need to take a taxi b/c Disney Transportation won't start early enough for us to get there on time. Can someone please tell me what time I'll need to be at the Epcot gate and what time I should plan to get into a taxi from CR to make it there on time. Where do I go once i'm inside the gate. One posting said that there will be a CM to tell me where to go, but I'd like to know in advance.
If anyone knows the taxi cost that would be helpful too. And how do I arrange for a taxi to pick us up at that exact time?
What else do I need to know about the Segway tour that Mr. Grumpy didn't tell me? I know it's two hours and drops off at illuminations at the end.
Thank you.

Take the cab to International Gateway - it's closer to WS. A CM will direct to where to go. Get there around 8:00. The cab ride is about $15. The desk can get you a cab or you can get one on your own - there's a cab button on the telepphone in your room

I'd take a cab to the main entrance, as the tours meet at guest relations at the front of the park, from memory. I also recall having a really bad time trying to get in through International Gateway for our Segway tour - they were really funny with us. I'd aim to be there 15 minutes before your tour starts. From the Contemporary, I'd guess maybe 15 minutes to get to Epcot?

You can also check with the concierge desk at your resort. Resort transport may be running at that hour since there is a character breakfast in Norway. They usually have transport running early enough to make any 'in park' meals.

Chezp, Thanks, should I arrange the Cab the night before? Do you know where in Epcot, will I be going to meet the tour people? When I go to guest relations, do I give them my reservation # and show photo ID and that's it?

Actually you should be able to take Disney Transportation without issue. There will be breakfast buses running from 7am in order to get people to the princess breakfast at Akershus for 8am, not to mention all the other tours that start at Epcot.

Actually, the tours no longer start at Guest Relations at Epcot either. There is a designated Tour Garden outside the gates with signs (I saw them when I was there in June). It is near to Guest Relations but not actually at Guest Relations. It's situated sort of between the Monorail station and the buses.

Wait in the Tour Garden and the Tour guides will come to you. They will have clip boards with everyone's names on them and they will ask you for your ID so make sure to bring it with you.

Do not go to International Gateway, they will not let you through. We had this happen when we did a few tours at Epcot. Make sure you go to the Main Entrance.

No problem. We try to do a tour every trip, it's one of our very Disney things to do. We noticed the new "tour garden" at Epcot on our last trip even though we didn't do an Epcot tour simply because we have done a number of tours there in the past. It makes it so much easier to have a designated are that is 'signed' then to just be told to go to Guest Relations because then you're never quite sure if you're in the right area.

Even if it's not an EMH morning, Epcot opens at 9AM and the buses will run at least an hour before that.

And since there is the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway with bookings starting at 8:05AM, they will have buses running for that much earlier.

So, if you don't want to pay for a cab, I'd stick with the buses.

Have fun with your tour, sounds like fun. Just a thought, but if you have problems with someone on the phone you can always hang up and and call back, get another CM. Sorry that one wasn't helpful.

Having done this tour many times, closed toed shoes is the way to go. Second thought is what to do with your "stuff" if you're like me & carry a backpack full of ???. Take your camera & a water bottle on the tour itself & they'll let you store your bag, coat, etc. in a secured area where you'll be doing the training part of the tour. While you can do a tour with a backpack on, it's really uncomfortable & can make you feel unbalanced at times. You're gonna love the tour!!!
