Mosquitos at WDW?

DBF asked me a question that I wasn't sure about the answer. He was asking me how bad the mosquitos are at WDW at this time of year. They are pretty bad here right now. We are just trying to figure out if we need to take the bug spray.

Actually, I don't think i've ever seen a mosquito in WDW no matter the time of year? Have seen love bugs and little lizards though!

This past May was the first time I've ever been bitten at WDW. Normally there are no mosquitoes to be found, but one night after sitting out on our balcony at OKW my legs were so bitten up that my SIL asked me the next day if I was having an allergic reaction to something. But that was a freak incident, I think.

We stayed a few nights at POP before moving to OKW, and Brent and I sat down by the water in the smoking area every night so he could smoke a cigar. I didn't get one mosquito bite there.

I decided that I'll probably bring some OFF with us next time, because my middle daughter got bit too. If I need it I'll have it and if I don't, no harm done.

We brought some bug spray with us this past September, but did not need to use it. We stayed at POFQ and with the river right there you would think there would be bugs everywhere, but we never encountered one mosquito!

I also am usually an absolute mosquito magnet, but have never been bitten at WDW! They must have something extra good to take care of that (wish I could have some for my neighborhood...). Our trip this past month though was the first time I have ever been bitten by anything - a wasp at the Pop 80's pool! It was actually the first time I've EVER been stung by a wasp and it sure hurt. Fortunately the lifeguard had a first aid kit that had little single serve bottles of anti-sting medicine that I put on the bite. It helped a lot!

We just got back, and for the most part, I stayed mosquito-free! (and believe me, when I'm outside, they come from miles around to feast!) I did get bitten a few times at the pool at OKW - we went swimming at night, and I was sitting on the steps half-submerged. When we got back to our room, I definitely had a few bites along my back where the suit didn't cover. Other than that, we had no problems!

We have never been bitten at WDW. We always carry the OFF wipes or the Skin-So-Soft wipes but have never needed to use them...

It depends on where you stay and how much time you spend around the waterways at WDW. One year when we stayed at WL, we were waiting for the launch back to WL from the dock at the Contemporary and I didn't realize it at the time but I was being eaten alive around the ankles. The next morning when I went to put my socks on I discovered a bunch of little bug bites all around the top of my sock line. That was in November/December.

I've personally never seen any mosquitos at WDW, and I'm sure Disney most likely sprays for them.
