MVMCP Tips and Tricks

Since I found the MNSSHP thread very helpful I thought I would start one for MVMCP!! So, those who have gone in years past and especially those going to the party this year please post your tips and tricks here! Where can special character greetings be found? Any special photo op spots (like Cinderellas Coach) to be found? Any tricks to maximize your fun at the party?

We were really excited that they had Big Al (from the Country Bear Jamboree) out and about with a scarf on!

Also, like MNSSHP, they have special merchandise that's only available during the parties. We got our hats there - they light up the castle so that it looks like the "Iced" castle. And, they were relatively cheap (in Disney-manner) at $8/ea.

Belle can usually be found out in Fantasyland by the old Skyway station and she'll be in her burgundy holiday dress (the one from Enchanted Christmas). She'll be there with Beast. The only times she is not there is when the 2 parades are on, at which time Snow White takes over.

Also during the Parades, Uncle Scrooge takes over for Donald at his tree farm near Toon Town.

We like to wear our Disney Santa hats for the party. I have a 'princess' santa hat (it's pink and white and says princess on it) and my mom wears her tigger santa hat (which is a classic collectors hat now).

Also, if you must watch the first parade, avoid doing so from Main Street USA. They've started allowing day guests to stay on Main Street to watch the first parade and Holiday Wishes. So if you have to/want to see the first parade, catch it from Liberty Square/Frontierland.

That is really, really good advice. We noticed that issue last year, and it annoyed the bejeebus out of us, because essentially, there were 29384923874 people who wouldn't leave the MK, but couldn't go anywhere other than Main St. and the hub because CM's wouldn't let them enter any of the other sections without wristbands.

On our last night there, which was a party night, we were getting ready to watch the Castle lighting and I was holding a spot at the Castle hub while my mom cleared out our locker and picked up our purchases from Package pick up and the couple next to me had a party map so I told them the same piece of advice. They were quite appreciative. I learned it from a CM last year that they had started letting day guests stay on Main Street until after the fireworks because they simply weren't leaving. That's why if you must and want to see the first parade do it from somewhere OTHER than Main Street and try to avoid Main Street for the first half of the party and catch Holiday Wishes from either the bridge to Tomorrowland or the bridge to Liberty Square because the day guests are not allowed onto the bridges. They aren't allowed past the Castle hub.

It will be interesting for me this year as we'll be attending on Sunday, December 6th. We usually attend the first Thursday in December but when we bought our tickets on our trip in June, that date wasn't available (they hadn't put a party on that date yet). Never done a party on a Sunday. Should be interesting to see what the crowd comparison is like.

Another tip: If you want to see Celebrate the Seasons (Castle stage show) without a HUGE crowd, stay and catch the VERY LAST showing after the second parade, not sure of the timing of it but I think it goes at like 11:30pm or something like that. The Castle Hub is relatively empty as much of the crowd empties after the second parade. It's a great time to see the stage show without being squished like sardines.

I appreciate this thread as we will be going to the party and I know when we went last year to the mnsshp we did not make the most of it.

We always enjoy the park and then watch the fireworks and, once those are done, grab places to see the second parade, as it's usually about an hour after the fireworks. It's usually quieter and it gives us a break during the party.

We went to the first MVMCP last year (it was early to mid Nov, forget the exact date)....we skipped the first parade and went and visted the characters and rode the rides that DS HAD to ride again. We hung out for the second parade and fireworks, and then did a little more late night park exploring. One of my favorites that night was when we had Peter Pan and Wendy to ourselves for what seemed like forever. IMO, the characters seemed to spend a little extra time with the kids on party nights. The mad hatter sat DS down and had a full on conversation with him...granted, DS will talk anyone's ear off!!

If you're going with younger kids MAKE THEM TAKE A NAP in the afternoon before the party. I took DS back to our resort and we both slept for 3 or so hours......with the caveat that if he slept, he didn't have a bedtime that night!! He was well rested and having so much fun. I felt bad for the families that had burnt out kiddos...you canonly cram in so much fun in one day!

Thanks for the tip about Main Street, we watched the parade from there last year and wondered why so many "Day Guests" were still around!

So "day guests" are still around for the first parade after the park is essentially supposed to be closed to anyone without tickets at 7???

Yes. They are allowed to stay only on Main Street USA. They are not allowed in off of Main Street in anyway. They are not allowed into Adventureland, Liberty Square or Tomorrowland or into any of the shops without a wristband.
