Third Week of March: Hell Week? Many of you know I'm getting married in February and that DF said that I could go ahead and book a WDW honeymoon. In between the wedding plans, school, work, and all the rest of it...I never did it. Most of all I was nervous about missing so much school and I knew we'd be going to US/IOA/WDW next January, so I just stuck with that. Then it dawned on me: Duh! Spring break! We near-newlyweds need to budget and it turns out the airfare is higher than normal, so taking that into consideration I got a good rate at ASMusic. DF is worried about the crowds. I told him "PPbbbfffft...It'll be fine!" but now I'm worried, too. Last time we went was May 2002 and the crowds were fairly moderate. Basically, I know that I can handle the crowds, I just don't want to be accompanying Grumpy for a week at the happiest place on earth. Will the crowds be unbearable the third week of March?

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? Nope, you should be okay - crowds will be heavier than the lightest season, but nowhere near Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter crowds. March is busier than many months due to spring breaks, but since Easter is not until April this year, you'll be better off. Spring break week is not consistent to that particular week in March - they vary from Easter week, to the Northeast's system of 1 week in Feb and 1 week in April, to the college system of 1 week in March. Some take the second week, some the third, etc. Put your mind at ease, and enjoy your honeymoon!

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? We went last year during the third week in March and it is also when our school districts spring break is again this year. The World was not empty, but the size of the crowds never had a negative affect on anything we did.

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? Ohhh! That's when we're going so I was little worried when I saw that post! But I figure it should be much better than the week after Easter! Laura

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? In my experiences, the week before and after Easter are typically very crowded as it's Spring Break for every lower education school district. Spring Break for colleges typically are anytime from March through April - when we went during college it was definitely less crowded that pre/post Easter weeks. Have fun - and remember FastPass really will save you a ton of time waiting in line if indeed your week proves to be packed!

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? Shouldn't be bad at all. Actually we've always enjoyed March. It isn't as hot as the summer months and it is less crowded than the Holidays or Easter week, but still enough people to make the activities enjoyable. When the park is empty, some activites tend to be cancelled, so March has always worked for us. We also like it when it rains, because people tend to leave the parks for their resorts when this happens. Don't worry, you'll enjoy it and even your Grumpy DF will too!

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? We also went during the third week of March last year, and the crowds weren't really that bad. I've seen worse at places like Cedar Point and the Michigan Renaissance Festival (where I work in August and September). I've seen it so crowded there that you could hardly see the ground, and I mean ground literally - no pavement...think of the dust! At least there's none of that at WDW.

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? We too are going the third week of March. As you can see from the few of us that have responded, that is a popular week. This will be our sixth trip during the third or fourth week of March, in as many years. Typically, it has been very busy. We have made most of our priority seatings ahead of time. It is definitely MORE crowded during Easter week, but don't be fooled, it will be crowded. I think you just have to go with the mindset that you will get out and about early in the day, go back to the hotel to swim in the afternoon, then head out for dinner and evening plans around 4 p.m. Go with the expectation that it will be crowded, and if by some chance this year is less crowded during that week, then you will be lucky! Why don't you try starting a poll, listing several weeks as your choices, then ask people to respond as to which week they are going. You might get a feel by doing that. We always go during spring break, and we just go expecting the worst (as far as crowds go), and if it isn't too bad, we are happy. Make sure you plan ahead with plenty of priority seatings, etc., and you should be fine. Have fun, and congrats!!

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? ripkensnana:[Michigan Renaissance Festival (where I work in August and September). ] OMG - that brings back memories!!!! I grew up in Minnesota, and my mom was a potter. Every year for 13 years we did the Renaissance Festival in Minnesota - I GREW UP THERE!!! Wow - what a blast from the past, someone who actually knows what not seeing the ground is all about - talk about crowds!! I used to work the peddle powered carousel - I like the Disney version much better - no pushing the kid who can't reach the peddles. I now live in Seattle, so nothing out here that compares. Say hi to all the traveling acts for me - I am sure I have seen them all!! Sorry to jump in, but couldn't resist. Enjoy the March trip to Dinsey - and remember to enjoy the wedding! Jess

Re: Third Week of March: Hell Week? We went in March last year, and enjoyed the weather so much, we're going again THIS march! We thought the crowds were fine. The only time we felt cramped was in Fantasyland around noonish, and it was because of the strollers, not the people ! It's my favorite time of year to go...I say go for it!
