Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

My DD (10) wonders if there is a place that does hair wrapping at Disney. Is there? Also, she said her friends at school told her they still have their "ears". How much do the ears cost, and do kids her age wear them?

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

HI!
I thought I read somewhere that at the Allstar resorts, Sports, I think, has one. Maybe the resort your staying at has one also. It can't hurt to call the resort directly and ask. We are staying at CBR, and I think they have one also. My DD13 also wants to get one.

They have the hair wrapping at Wilderness Lodge and I think I have seen them at the water parks. The Micky Mouse Club style "ears" I think are around $5.00.

I think they do hair wrapping on the Boardwalk as well. I sometimes like to plan a day where I can take a break halfway through Epcot. Go out the back entrance over by Great Britain and you can walk or take a boat over to the Boardwalk. I think it's a nice place to relax.

I know they also do hair wrapping at MK. There is a station in adventureland near frontierland. Kids of all ages wear the ears. I think it's a must have aawhen you are at Disney!

I know that there is also hair wrapping at CBR outside the food court. I know that DTD has at least 1 place for hair wrapping also. I have seen many adults wearing ears as well as children.

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

Besides the resorts, I've also seen a hairwrapping station at MGM in the courtyard by the Muppets fountain.

Oh, and lots of ten year olds wear the ears. There are now several different versions of ears - princess hat with ears, sorcerer's hat with ears, etc. Of course, the old original is still around and the cutest, imo.

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

My 10 year old scopes out all of the hairwrap stations so I can tell you with certainty that there is one at MGM near the Muppetvision show around the fountain and MK has one near Pirates of the Carribean across the walkway from the seating area of El Pirata Y el Perico. If you are staying at a Disney resort, I suggest getting it done there as it does take a looong time.

My daughter also has Mickey ears that she got on a trip when she was younger, but they are still displayed in her room. Now, she looks more for a visor or a hat and she has a character sign it.

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

You start with a tiny section of hair and use embroidery floss (or similar) in whatever colors you want and you "wrap" it tightly around the hair. Usually you knot it at the top first, then wrap, or wrap and then switch colors and make designs with the colors. You can add beads or decorations and then you end up with one colorful thing hanging down the side of your head. My DD loves this and has me do it for her once in a while, but she figures the disney kind will be "cool-er". It does take quite a while and I don't like her to leave it in for many days because it seems that some of her hair strands break off.

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

Im 33 and I get mine wrapped everytime I go down there! hee hee! I usually get mine done over at the BWI, they did do it once at the YC but out of the 4 times that we have been there they have only been there once. Maybe during peak time they are, Im not sure. I know that they were also over at WL when we stayed there too. Just word to the wise, it can be expensive so if you want to cut it back a few bucks, have them do the under part of your hair instead of starting at the top of your hair. I once saw a kid with one that was about 12 inches long (she started it at the top and had reallllly long hair) and I was wondering how much it cost that parent to have that done! They probably needed a loan for that one! They are cool though and if done right can last weeks after the vacation is over. Mine did!

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

I have mine in my hair right now, that I had done at the Boardwalk a week ago. They usually don't open up the wrapping station there until after 5:00, and it took about 15 minutes to do mine. I have pretty long hair...the cost is $1.50/inch and mine came to $26.00!!! That's 17" plus a little extra for the beads. I had mine done at the base of my neck, just behind the ear. They last for a long time; everytime I brush my hair I'm reminded of my trip to WDW, which is a great thing!

Re: Hair braiding or hair wrapping at parks?

Downtown Disney has a hair wrapping station, as far as I remember.

We got my DD a set of infant ears (she may be 3 but has a tiny head!!!) in December and they were $7.50

I want to say all the ears are around that same price range, with the exception of the fancy hats with ears . . . like the sorceror Mickey hat . . . I am SO getting one of those in October!!! I am 27 and there is absolutely NO SHAME in anyone over the age of 5 wearing ears!!!

Hey, there's one by the main pool at ASMovies. Kind of expensive and maybe a wait, but they have a sign-up sheet. HTH Ruth
