I'm a Pooh Sized gal (ok, maybe Eeyore!) and I'd thought I'd add a review of Toy Story Mania.

No problems! That ride is COMFY. Lots of room, separate lap bars, love it! Can't wait to do it again.

I love it!

I would have been shocked to hear the ride was anything other than roomy, but it's nice to have my expectations met. Thanks for the details!

Can anyone tell me about Mission Space?

I have NEVER done this attraction, partly because of size and then more recently MS.

However, I was thinking of trying the lite side, just to see if I could handle it and I have been nervous. Can anyone who is roughly a size 26/28 tell me how they handled the experience?

I rode this for the first time on our last trip (Jan/Feb 08) and fit just fine. I am a solid size 28 with my weight pretty evenly distributed (but with that much weight, that still meansI have a large stomach and chest). It was actually a bit roomy. I sat on the outside each time, so that might had something to do with it, but I doubt. I got the feeling that someone bigger than me would be perfectly comfortable in any seat. The one thing I would say is that the orange team was really uncomfortable for me - the attendant told my folks (ofcourse I didn't hear it, so I didn't know till after I rode) that the g-forces cause you to feel about twice your weight bearing down on you. I had a hard time breathing because of it. I have a slight blood pressure problem, so I spent the whole time afraid that something was wrong, so I couldn't enjoy it.

The Green team is exactly the same, only without the spinning that causes the g-force effect. If you don't have a lot of weight on your chest or stomach, it might not bother you so much. My mother was about a size 20 at the time and absolutely loved the orange team version. The panel coming toward me startled me a bit, for fear that it wouldn't want to stop when it reached my stomach, but it stopped with plenty of room. I don't know how your MS would playout with the ride, but don't worry one bit about your weight.

Allears.net has updated the Disney At Large section of their website. I don't know if anyone else off of these boards contributed, but my little write up is there. This is the first time since ( I think ) 2006 that it has been updated, so there are a few new posts.

I too am on the "Large" side and I've got to say, I've never had any problems fitting in any of the rides at any of the parks. Our family did go to the "Other" orlando theme parks last year in addition to the ones at WDW and I had a tougher time fitting into even the ones made for the "larger" people! (I was so embarressed not only by needing them, but, some even didn' fit) So, Go and enjoy knowing that WDW is indeed made for everyone!

Thanks for the report. I was wondering about it myself since we're going in Sept. Glad to hear from someone else that's Pooh Sized (although I'm a bit taller than Pooh at 6-3).

I don't feel that any of us should feel that we are "outing" ourselves to let it be known that we had gastric bypass. It is just another tool to lose weight. It is most definately not the "quick fix" that the uneducated seem to think it is. It is a life altering surgery that makes life so much better.
I have now been to WDW twice - once before surgery and once after. I had a WONDERFUL time on both trips. The people I encountered on our first trip at WDW AND at US were kind and understanding about larger guests. I was VERY impressed by the CMs at WDW and the folk at US were almost as accomodating. I found the biggest difference in our two trips was simply being able to walk longer distances and my feet not hurting at the end of the day.
Now - CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss. I hope you are at or close to your goal!!

Any tips from the wdw pros?

Somewhere I saw suggestions on choosing the best ride vehicles for us Pooh-sized folks. There were tips that you should pick the front of certain rides or the back row on others. If any of you know any of these tips, please let me know. I only had trouble riding Soarin" because my hips would not fit comfortably between the seperator bars. Are all the seats the same width or are the ones on the end a little larger? Any tips would be appreciated!

If such a list exists, I'd love to see it for HEIGHT. My DH is about 6'7" and a bit POOHish - kind of Genie-Sized. He's had some experiences where his knees have been banged up a bit on certain rides - DINOSAUR comes to mind as one of the knee-jarring rides.

I don't know of any list that states them one after another, but it is covered pretty well in the Passporter's book for disabilities (Open Mouse?) and Allears.net in their At Large section. The book has great information about each ride and tips, and the At Large section has pictures of most ride vehicles. Between the two you should be well covered. If I have the time, I'll go through each and see what kind of a list I can come up with. (I'm starting at a new college in 2 weeks in the music program, so no promises!)
