Thank you! I've decided that I'll use making this list as my diversion when I can't take thinkin about starting class anymore. So I'll get as much of it together as I can.

(I hope this part is okay to put up here - if not I'll understand if it has to be taken down.) BTW, if anyone who's feeling worried about walking around Disney (or anywhere else) when Pooh sized, there is a series of videos on self acceptance called Fat Rant on the naafa's myspace site. There is only the first one on myspace - the rest are on the creator's site fatrantblog.wordpress.com (this chick is AWSOME, but her site is not for young kids - there are a few bad words, but nothing crazy). Here's the address: MySpace.com - NAAFA.org - 38 - Female - California - www.myspace.com/naafa. They are hilarious and make you feel much better about yourself.

Disney is the only park where I don't have to worry about this. It is embarrasing at some other parks, but once again Disney has done it right. The rides are made for everyone! Thank you Walt!!!

Thank You For All You Postings

I am taking my first trip back to Disney since 1992. It is the first with my son who was not born until 1998. I was young and thinner in 92. Unfortunately I ballooned up to 374 but have fought to reduce that to about 325 for this trip, You comments have helped comfort me a bit but any further comfort will be helpful and I admire the courage it takes to post. I am about 6'2" and have about a 52" waist. If any one about that size can confirm that they had no trouble on the rides I would appreciate it. Most have been female and I do not understand female sizes (my wife will confirm that) We will be leaving on Friday the 21st of Nov. Thank you very much.

Yeah, I'm bigger still (around 60" waist, and had NO problems. I had remembered having a problem last year in Space Mountain, but I had no problem with it last month (and I am the same size as last time). So no worries!

I am a little anxious about riding Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. It's been a long time since I've been to WDW, and I'm not as agile as I was 10 years ago. Recently my husband and I went to Disneyland, and rode Splash Mountain and I couldn't get off. The Splash logs are different in DL, single seats instead of two people to a seat, I had no problem getting in, but couldn't stand up. I was so embarrassed because the line was 90 minutes long, people were waiting to get on an I couldn't get off. My husband was trying to help me, then the cast member came, offered her suggestions, one of the waiting riders also tried to offer me his arm to help me out and I just couldn't stand up. I started to panic at this time, and the CM (Jeanette-- thank you) told me not to get upset, and however she did it, helped me out. I still can't figure out why I had this problem.
So now I do have fears about getting on Space and Splash Mountains in WDW when we go next month. I bought Passporters' Open Mouse, which I love, and I still can't figure out, should I try it or not. Is there anyone here that has had a problem, not so much with fitting, although I am fluffy too, but with manuvering in an out of a ride vehicle.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or experiences. It wasn't easy for me to talk about my Splash experience, but you all seem to be so understanding and non-judgemental.

AGentlRose - So sorry to hear about your difficulty. I know that as I have gotten older (I won't say OLD!!), I have to take a few seconds when getting up off the floor or standing up from a squatting position. I have to be completely sure that my knees are not going to give out. I have lost a lot of weight, but it's trying to creep back on so I'm working really hard to make it go away again. The weight loss gave me a false sense of security as far as my knees are concerned. I have kind of abused them this past summer, hiking and camping with my DS. So the muscles are pretty strong, but the joints aren't as strong as I would like.
Just take your time getting up from the rides. Don't feel pressured to jump up like you were 15 years old. Very few of us are as agile as we were 10, 15 or 20 years ago. If you need assistance, ask for it. That's one of the things the CMs are there for.

I have a problem with the WDW Space Mountain because the seats are so low. I have a hard time unfolding my legs from their cramped position and standing up. I wish the WDW vehicles were like the DLR vehicles -- they are terrific and very easy to get in an out of.

I agree, Eileen. Plus on Space Mountain in Disneyland, since I use the GAC to avoid the stairs at the exit, I was ushered to that special boarding area, where they don't care how long you take to board/disembark and then slide the rocket to the track. I loved that.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Jennifer. I also have lost some weight, 50 lbs since last October, still have more to go, but it was a significant improvement for me walking-wise. I never expected the problem trying to get out of the Splash Mountain log and now I feel terrified of everything.

You sound like me trying to exit a roller coaster I went on with my daughter last week. I wasn't too big for the ride but it was awkward, high up, and my jeans too tight. I was only stuck a few seconds but I felt the same panic that you are describing.

don't worry about hurrying for other people. Go and enjoy yourself!!

It's been a LONG time (20+ years) since I've been to DLR. But I go to WDW about every month. I've got a bum knee that likes to act up at the worst moments - like getting out of ride cars. The ONLY 2 I have ever had a problem with are Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter. Splash has the 2 person seats and it is pretty easy to stand up and step out. Space and Astro are both in the seated, legs straight style and Astro has a LARGE step down.

I hope this helps!
