are you going to USF as well and just not sure about IOA?

IOA is considered to be one of the best themed parks (yes, that's themeD) and has a bit to offer both thrill seekers and non-thrill seekers (although mostly non).

i think it's worth a day, especially if you haven't been, but it would help to know a bit more about your group.

Yes - both parks are sooo worth it, IOA in particular. If you want to do both parks, get the US Express Pass Plus and have a good plan. Must sees:

US
Terminator 3D
Back to the Future - The Ride
Men in Black
Earthquake
Revenge of the Mummy
Twister - Ride It Out
Shrek 4D

IOA
Spiderman (coolest ride in Orlando)
Dr. Doom Fearfall
Hulk Coaster
Jurassic park River Adventure
Dueling Dragons
Dudley Dooright (SP?) Whipsaw Falls (you will get soaked)

If you have any thrill lovers, then IoA is a must-do. But even if you don't have thrill-ride lovers, I still think IoA is a must-do. It is wonderfully themed and is great fun to explore. If you can squeeze a day in for it into your plans, I would suggest you do so. And if you can squeeze in 2 days, add the Universal Studios park too, because there's lots to do there also. For more info, check USF's official website: Universal Studios Theme Parks, Orlando Attractions: Universal Orlando

Would you suggest a day at Iniversal and a day at Island of Adventure or both in one day. Also what about Sea World, Busch Garden and so on. Should they all have their own days. I was thinking of doing only MGM for half a day then having a rest, then returning to MK for late afternoon and all evening.

If you have the time, I would suggest a day for each park. I think Sea World can be done in less than a full day. Of course it depends on what time of year you are going, because higher crowd levels can slow down your touring. If you are staying for 2 weeks, I would give each park a day. Nothing wrong with spending 1/2 day at a park and chilling out the rest of the day, after all, it is your vacation!

You have lots of ticket options at Universal. You can buy either a 2 park/1 day ticket, a 1 park/1 day ticket, or the best deal is a 7 consecutive day ticket for $85. It's better than a 2 day ticket, and you don't have to use all 7 days. Universal also offers a 5 park flex ticket which gives you unlimited admission to both Universal Parks, Sea World, and Busch Gardens for 14 consecutive days. You can get more info here:

Universal Studios Florida Theme Park Ticket :: Universal Studios Orlando Tickets & Vacations

As far as MGM for half a day, then returning to MK, if you have park hoppers you could easily do this. That is the great thing about a park hopper ticket.

And to answer your original question - yes! If you're planning to visit Universal, I couldn't imagine not going to IOA. It's a visually beautiful park with some amazing rides.

I've never been to IOA but I was at US when I was 14 (15 years ago!) I was always under the impression that there wouldn't be much for me to do at IOA because I'm not a thrill ride person, but as I'm doing my research, I think there will be plenty I can experience at the park. I think Suess Island, Jurrasic Park Island and The Lost Continent appeal to me the most, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the giant Marvel Comic characters and Toon Lagoon seems pretty cute!

You need to go to IOA or be flogged! Hulk, Spider-Man, Jurassic Park can't be missed! The theming of the entire park is worth a stroll through the islands.

IOA is a must at least once. For thrill ride people such as the two of us, we love it. I don't enourage more than a day. UCF I could handle never doing again - nothing excited either of us to pay to go again. IOA is bit loud - yes I realize it is more an amusement park but Universal/IOA doesn't do a good job of making it a realistic level.

I've been many times, and I've never noticed a noise problem. But I have to differ with you, IOA is a wonderfully themed park and a notch above any amusement park I've ever visited. The theming in such areas as Jurassic Park and Suess Landing blow me away! I could walk around IOA and just soak in all the visual extras - things we usually miss when we are rushing to get in line.
