When we went to Disney for our honeymoon in 1999 we went to Universal Studios and Mears picked us up at Dixie Landings and to us right to Universal Studios and back. It was a good experience and we are going to do it again when we go in December.

hi there
my son and I were staying at contemporary in dec 06, we got front desk to ring mears the night before. it cost $30 for two of us return to IOA. they picked us up in taxi, and you ring 2 hrs before you want pick up at IOA. we shared a cab back to WDW. Easy.
enjoy.

Does anyone know how early and how late Mears picks you up and drop you off at Universal Studios? The park closes at 6pm but we would like to stay a little bit and have dinner and walk around Citywalk.

I'm not 100% sure for you in your particular case, but I know the told us they continued to run the buses until CityWalk closed. When we were there in August, IOA closed at 7 but CityWalk closed at 2 am, so if we wanted to stay until 2 am we could have. Give them a call and double check, they're very helpful. On a side note, there are a bunch of posts where individuals have had a bad experience with Mears, I just wanted to add that our experience with Mears was wonderful. They were on time and very reliable. I worried about the transportation between WDW and IOA for no reason! I hope this helped - have a great trip!

I rang Mears a couple of weeks ago to enquire about their shared shuttle service from Disney hotels. I was told all we have to do is ring them the night before we want to go to US/IOA to arrange a pick up time with them. They pick you up outside the hotel and pay the driver in cash he will give you a receipt for a round trip so you can ring and arrange collection at least an hour before you want to make the return leg of your journey. I was quoted $18 per person return for POFQ hope this has helped

u could get the i-ride and lynx service? You would get the Lynx bus from the ticket and transportation area to seaworld, I-ride stop 32, then just jump on the i-ride, will take you str8 up. Apart from that i dont really know im afraid, i only ever use these services

Thank you EVERYONE for the info. Sounds like Mears is the way to go. We're headed out in Feb 2011 and I was wondering if it was worth it. Is 1 day enough at Universal? Jess(who will be 18) wants to see the Harry Potter thing

Time to Travel

Hello all. I am sorry if this question has been asked already. I was not sure where to start. The transportation threads seem to center around off-site transpo options.

Back ground info: We will have our own car as we are driving from SC. We will be staying at WDW in the 2nd week of Aug. After doing 4 days at WDW-we will do 2 days at US. Day1, Thurs, USF. Day2, Fri, US-IOA. We will depart from Fl. (booo) directily from US-IOA. We are only wanting to do WWoHP and maybe a few other things at IOA before we head home.

My question: How much time should we allow for our communte in our own vehicle in order to get to USF on a Thur/IOA on a Fri in order to fight morning traffic, trek from the parking lot (which I read can take a long time all by itself) and to exchange vouchers (Thur only) and be there the minute off-site guests are allowed in and to not have to be behind the curve and stuck in long lines all day? We will not be springing for Univ. Express tickets.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the super long question.

H.

We went there last year when my family came to visit. I would say the walk from the parking gargage is about 10 - 15 minutes (should include going thru the gates). I am not sure how busy they will be in early August...our schools usually start in August, but may be starting later this year.

you don't say where you are staying at WDW. If you are staying near or at DTD, you can avoid I-4 by taking Palm Parkway, which turns into Turkey Lake Rd, and goes by the back side of Universal; there is an entrance to the resort accross from Dr. Phillips High School. Palm parkway can be accessed by turing right off of Rt 535 at Apopka-Vineland Rd & Palm Parkway. There is an Olive garden on the corner there. You can get to Universal in 10-15 mihnutes from there...good luck!

This is the route we usually take. We often stay at AKL and I think our commute is usually around 20 minutes, maybe a few more. We avoid I-4 like the plaque - had a bad experience where we ended up sitting in traffic for an hour on a Sunday and missed our ADRs at Whispering Canyon!
