Transportation from Disney to Universal?

We will be at DW in late Sep/Early Oct and would like to go to Universal for the day. We are flying in to Orlando and taking the Magical Express to our resort. What is the best way to go to Universal for the day?

Thanks!

when we went from pop century to universal and islands of adventure we took the MEARS bus. It came right to the resort, but you did have to call first, so they were prepared for you and went to your resort. no complaints and i beleive it was about 15-17 each person roundtrip. i think my kids were free, but they were 3 & 1. The buses were much nicer than disneys and held more people too.

Mears Transportation from Polynesian to USF

Hi, I just checked out the websites for transportation from WDW to USF and found out that Mears can pick you up at your hotel. We will be staying at the Polynesian for a week in May and want to know if Mears has pickups daily, or do we have to call them directly to make reservations?
It is so wonderful to have these forums available now.....wished they would have been around twentysome years ago when we visited WDW every year with our 3 young sons! Oh well, it is still as exciting each time we go there...only now our sons are in their late 20's and early 30's and still claim WDW to be one of their favorite destinations and they have travelled all over.

lsscancun, welcome to the Universal/IOA forum! It's my understanding that you need to make a reservation with Mears. However, I've never used their service so I'm not 100% sure. You can check their website for more info:

you'll have to call Mears 24 hours in advance to arrange a pickup. you'll have a choice of times.

they do request you schedule the return trip about 2 hours prior to when you want to leave, but I doubt it matters all that much. basically the buses just pull into the dropoff area and they load them up and seem to make route determinations on the fly.

I find the Mears site difficult to navigate, in that when I try to reserve a pickup, it only gives me hotel and airport options. Anyone have any idea how Id go about getting a reservation? I'm looking to go from the All Star Music Resort to Universal

Give them a call directly to definitely verify, but I am pretty sure you can only arrange for hotel to certain location trips 24 hours in advance.

When we went to Disney for our honeymoon in 1999 we went to Universal Studios and Mears picked us up at Dixie Landings and to us right to Universal Studios and back. It was a good experience and we are going to do it again when we go in December.

I rang Mears a couple of weeks ago to enquire about their shared shuttle service from Disney hotels. I was told all we have to do is ring them the night before we want to go to US/IOA to arrange a pick up time with them. They pick you up outside the hotel and pay the driver in cash he will give you a receipt for a round trip so you can ring and arrange collection at least an hour before you want to make the return leg of your journey. I was quoted $18 per person return for POFQ hope this has helped
