Universal Express

Okay....

I'm going to Universal on Sunday March 16th...We're doing both parks in 1 day. It may be a heavy day or light day. The Universal Express pass is 50.99 for the day....if we don't wanna have to spend two days there....is it worth it to basically be buying a second ticket??? Money is an issue but I wanna really get both parks in one day. Can I do it without a Universal Express Pass?

if the cost is that high, they're anticipating heavy crowds. you're right around easter so i'd expect as much.

it depends on how much you wish to accomplish/see. i don't see either as a half day park if you really want to engage yourself in them.

I'm not sure how heavy the crowds will be. We were there Labor Day weekend with no express pass. We arrived at IOA about 8:40 am. People were already inside the park on the Hulk. We went to Hulk first and rode about 3 times. Then on to Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Dueling Dragons, and Cat in the Hat. We left IOA and went to US, and did several things there. Mummy, Men in Black, ET, Terminator. We left about 3 pm. So we did manage to hit the high points in both parks in one day, but didn't do everything.

It will probably be busier when you're going than when we were there.

If time is your main concern you won't see everything in one day but you'll probably get to do several rides at each park. You could try it without the pass and if you see that the lines are too long you can purchase the express pass at some gift shops.

If money is your concern, you can buy the 7 day park online cheaper than you could buy a one day and express pass.

Good luck! I personally hope you'll take more time to enjoy these beautiful parks, particularly IOA. There's lots of theming to take in that you'll miss rushing between rides.

I purchased the passes on day 2 of 2 last July for DD and myself. We paid about $35 each. It sounds like the price changes according to the volume of people in the park! If you want to get in as much as possible in both parks, I would recommend spending the money - BUT I would wait until you get there to see if it is even needed! We definately made out in the long run by spending the extra $. On the down side, my DD never did get to ride on dueling dragons because of weather (she waited - first in line to get on - for over an hour! Everytime it would finally reset, another crack of lightening and the ride would shut down for 20 minutes!). I wish you could reuse the pass as there were other rides we didn't get to!

Actually, the Express pass price for March 16 is $40.99, while it's $55 for the week preceding and following. It surprised me that that Sunday would be cheaper than any other day (and thus presumably less crowded), but we've changed our plans and will thus be heading to US/IOA on that day (but w/o the Express pass).

I had gotten the express pass once, on the IOA side, it was 22.00 (a sale I suppose that day?) but you can only use it ONCE per attraction. they check them off. sometimes they didnt and we got on twice. I think that was last March.
