Univeral Studios or Island of Adventure?

I'm going with my mom next week to Florida (I'm 28 she's 58) and besides the Disney parks and Seaworld we can spend one day elsewhere but I'm not sure which would be best...Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure? My mom doesn't like roller coasters so I need a place with tamer rides than that but nothing boring. Plus, I wouldn't mind going on an awesome roller coaster or two while she takes a break. Please give me as much advice as you can as I've never been to either of these parks. I'm guessing you can't do both in one day which sucks.....but yes, please help!! Thanks!!

If your mom isn't into roller coasters, then I would choose Universal Studios Florida. There are enough rides for wimps, I mean, your mom to enjoy. USF has two roller coasters -- the dark ride/roller coaster Revenge of the Mummy and the kiddie coaster Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. I think your mom might be able to ride them both. I've found people who don't like roller coasters actually enjoy Revenge of the Mummy. The Nuthouse Coaster is kind of like the Barnstormer at the Magic Kingdom. Some of the other rides have loud noises, fire effects, a little shaking, and topless women (no, just kidding on the 1/2 naked women), but there are sedate things to do, like the various shows and happy hour at the bar in Finnegan's.

Welcome to the boards!

As someone else who's not into coasters, I can recommend Universal Studios. They've got much more for non-thrill riders there. If you can only visit one park, that's the one I'd go for.

If time and money permits you can get a 2 park one day ticket.
IOA side has more thrill rides than USF side but if you enjoy coasters you will love the Mummy.

Universal Studios would be the better bet for you and your mom. They have a bunch of shows and lots more "tame" rides.

There is a far wider selection of attractions at Universal Studios as opposed to Islands of Adventure so you're much more likely to find things to do that appeal to both of you there.

Universal Studios has much tamer rides but IOA has the best rides in Orlando imho. Spiderman is the coolest ride I've ever been on, having said that. must sees at US

Terminator 3D
Men In Black
Jaws
Earthquake
Revenge of the Mummy (a little intense)
Twister
Shrek 4D

I totally agree, Universal Studios would be a better choice, but definintely go back sometime if you are into Roller Coasters IOA rocks and is lots of fun for the adventure seeker.

Cool US vs IOA

i definately agree. if u have a person in your party that doesnt like roller coasters US is the place to go.

My favorite at US is E.T and jaws.

The animal actors show is fun too.

But Mummy is fun.

MIB:aliens attack is similar to buzz lightyear at MK. If u like that u will like aliens.

Check out Beetlejuice if u like rock and roll.

but definately go back to IOA one day. U could do the 2 park one day ticket. It has mainly roller coasters but some mild thrills too.

Hulk and Dueling dragons is awesome. Your mom might like teh Jurassic park ride.

Also do the popeye ride ( forget real name). U'll see it, it si fun and u get soaked.

have fun
