| Universal with 8 year old My parents are taking my son to Floida in a few weeks and want to stop at Universal. It has been years since I have been there and I don't remember much about it. What is the best part to take him to? Anything they shouldn't miss with him?

| Not excatly sure how tall he is....he can ride everything at Disney though. He does like thrill rides and coasters. Some of his Disney favorites are TOT, Rockin Roller Coaster, Mission Space, Dinosaur, Pirates......he pretty much is a fan of anything.

| We took our 7YO and 4YO to Universal in 2006. The things we mainly did (they are not big thrill riders) were Jimmy Neutron, Shrek 4-D, ET, Woody Woodpecker rollercoaster, there was a play area akin to the HISTK playground at DHS), and the Curious George splash/water area. I guess we didn't really do many rides there thinking about it now ![]()

| If he's tall enough and likes the thrill rides, Islands of Adventure would be great for him.

| Thanks for the help guys! When I went it was over 12 years ago and I was in high school so I really don't remember much about it...honestly, didn't even know there was more than one park. I prefer Disney overall and that is what I know the most about so I am hopeless when it comes to other amusement parks. Thanks again for the suggestions!!

| Universal's coasters have higher height restrictions than Disney - the tallest at WDW is RnRC which is 48". Several coasters at Universal have a 54" height restriction. So that would be the first thing I would check - if he is tall enough for the coasters at Islands of Adventure. We took our first trip when our youngest was 8, and she rode everything at both parks. Another thought - will your parents ride the coasters/thrill rides with your son, or will he ride alone? If not, then I would go with Universal Studios.

| If your son is fairly brave and okay with dark intense rides, definitely Spiderman. My DS used to ride without the 3D glasses because he was a timid rider at that age. (Even Pirates was too intense for him due to darkness until he was about 10). You know him best if he is an all out fear nothing kid, Here are my favs for IOA: Hulk Spiderman Jurassic Park Dueling Dragons There are also great lesser rides at IOA Flying Unicorn and Cat in the Hat. Note for IOA water rides don't just get you wet they get you soaked! At USF Family Favs are Men in Black (think Buzz) we usually do it over and over again. E.T. Jimmy Neutron Shrek DD and I love Mummy but DS hasn't tried it yet and DH has bad back. When our kids were smaller we did Woody Woodpecker and the kids really liked the Curious George water area.
