Thumbs down Blue Man Group!

My sister got discounted tickets to Blue Man Group for being a teacher in Florida. We paid $25 a piece to see them which honestly was TOO MUCH! The show was BAD...just awful. There were some funny parts but mostly it was just stupid and kinda gross. Apparently some people think it is funny! If you plan on spending $75 to see this show...you might want to do a bit of research before you go.

I have to agree (and we paid full price). I was disappointed in the show. The performance itself was clever, and the message contained in the show was certainly thought-provoking (it was all about connecting and communicating in an increasingly digital age), BUT...

When I pay that kind of money, I want to be entertained. I felt the show was built around a rowdy, "lowbrow" audience and relied on rudeness to be successful. From the pre-show onward, being loud, inconsiderate of those sitting around you, and heckling the stage was encouraged, and I found that unattractive and uncomfortable. It was longer than any in-park show, but other than that, I felt it was inferior to many of the shows I've seen in parks that are free with admission.

Overall, my opinion (and that's all it is) was that Blue Man Group was perfect for Universal. My DH and I dropped our passes (after almost 5 years) because after the NBC takeover, we felt that USF/IOA was cultivating more and more of a party atmosphere. Walking out the door of the Blue Man Group show, I felt that it would have been a great show if I'd had 5 beers and gone with my Sororoity sisters. It just wasn't my kind of atmosphere. I'll pay the extra $50 and go to La Nouba over at Disney. That's magic, talent, and entertainment that suits my taste a little better.

Gosh, very sorry you didn't like the show...

We saw them at Universal in 2007. Can't wait to go back. We sat in the very back row the first time we saw them....it was an absolute BLAST!

Just bought tickets in the front row, poncho area-AA seating this morning for a show in July. Our two neighbors, My husband and our daughter can't wait! We love them- then , again we have a teenager- she loves the show.

Blue Man Group was really great back in the day but I can see how it might be a little outdated. You know what I'd pay full price to see again, though? STOMP. I think that is one of the best shows around!

Sorry you didn't enjoy the show. We saw them in London and it was OK, but add me to the list of people who wouldn't see them again.
