We are thinking of goining to Universal for 5 nights in April. Staying on site either Royal pacific Hotel or Portofino Bay Hotel with 2 kids and hubby. Any reccomendations on which hotel would be better. It will be Easter weekend which I am sure is very busy. My husband wants to stay on site because of the express pass. It is our first trip to Universal. We have been to disney twice with the kids. We usually stay at moderates. We wanted to try something different this year!

Has anyone heard when the Christmas stuff is starting at universal this year, I am guessing, hoping Dec. 5th or 6th?

I'd go with the Royal Pacific - it's a little closer to the theme parks and cheaper too.

We'll be there October 30th & 31st. We're staying at the Animal Kingdom Villas. We'll be doing MNSSHP on the 29th because my kids are just too young for HHN at Universal. They've never been to Universal so this will be interesting for them. I'm really looking forward to it.

I have stayed at both RPR and HRH. I'd actually recommend Hard Rock by just an inch. The walk from HRH to the parks and Citywalk is VERY short, and the pool is fantastic with a great waterslide (Though at Universal you can pool hop between the 3 hotels)
I love the look of Portofino, but it's a looong walk to the parks, and the boat can sometimes be slow in coming.
That being said, you can't go wrong staying on-site at Universal. You will have a GREAT time.

Going back to Universal during Thanksgiving week. It's benn 2 years, and out whole family is really looking forward to it!

Going to Universal Aug 15-20 for the first time. Staying at HRH. I am addicted to Disney(so my family says) so this was a compromise to get everyone to go along.

Hoping to do Disney 2010 with my Dad. He really wants to go down during the Flower festival.

We are going in August for the first time and we are staying at the HRH ...I keep telling everyone its our vacation before our vacation - since we are going from there to AKV for 9 days after!!

We'll be there one night before we head to WDW. I have not made a reservation yet, but the plan is to return to the Royal Pacific hotel, I enjoyed it there last time. We will be there Oct 12 and 13.

ETA: I made the ressie and we are all set!

We are staying at the Royal Pacific Resort from 8/12-8/17 then it is off to Saratoga Springs and the Animal Kingdom lodge. Hope the weather cooperates this year (Last year we had tropical storm Fay).
