| Gluten Free Universal? Hello All, I am planning a vacation to Universal Studios, but I was wondering how accomodating the restaurants are to people who have to stay on a gluten free diet. Thanks for all of your help. |

| Welcome. My mom has Celiacs and we have just started traveling with her. While we haven't been to Universal yet I'll give you some tips that should help. We used these on our last trip to Vegas and she didn't get sick once! Call Universal and ask if they have GF options and where. You can also check out menus on websites before you go. There are a number of chains that are in the Orlando area that are great to work with McDonalds, Wendy's and Outback Steakhouse. You can google a wheat/gluten allergy card and print off multiple for your purse/wallet. The card states you are allergic to wheat/gluten and will have a reaction (many thing of the reaction like those allergic to bees and peanuts and are MUCH more careful with your food) if ingested. It explains you can get sick from cross contamination. It also lists come of the common items that make you sick, soy sauce is one of the biggies. When you go to eat present the card to your waiter/waitress. We have had a number of servers bring out bottles for us to check before cooking the food. The card will stay with your ticket so the kitchen sees it as well. Mom almost always gets fresh pans for her food. Order last, that way any requests don't get lost in the group. Never hesitate to ask what's in something. Mom always brings a stock her her snacks just in case. Fresh fruit is readily available in most parks. Bring a small bottle of your fav salad dressing, we do this in a small toiletry bottle. Good Luck!
