| UPDATE: The news is now out. Universal has a nice, if perhaps overly-"magical" mini-web site with the text of the press release, video, and other goodies. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Universal Orlando Resort The descriptions of the attractions and shops look very attractive to this HP fan, especially the chance to quaff butterbeer at either the Three Broomsticks or Hogs Head Pub. Lots of properly-themed shops, including Olivander's Wands, Zonko's Joke Shop, Honeyduke's sweets... Even Filch gets a shop of his own, trading in "confiscated goods" (good thing Fred and George were able to get the Maurader's Map out of his clutches). The food/drink and merchandise shops clearly out-number the attractions. There will be two coasters, a "grown-up" coaster themed on the Tri-Wizarding Tournament (watch out for the Norwegian Ridgeback!), and a family coaster, "Flight of the Hippogriff" (even Hermione was able to ride Buckbeak, after all). There's also one high-tech dark ride - "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey." I can imagine Universal feverishly preparing this announcement once they figured out the kind of "bang" Disney was going for with the D23 convention. Altogether, Orlando is getting a whole lot of buzz at the moment.

| I was just coming to post about this. One thing not mentioned - the two coasters are re-workings of current coasters (Dueling Dragons and the Flying Unicorn). So really, you are looking at one new attraction, based on what has been released so far. I am sure it will be interesting to see, but I doubt we will be rushing back to Universal anytime soon after our upcoming trip. Of course, the fact that I am the only one in our family that has read the books (DS11 read two, then got bored) could have something to do with it! | Harry Potter world opening Spring 2010 I am signed up on Universal's website to get new news about the Harry Potter world in Universal. It will be opening Spring 2010 according to the announcement I received this morning. For all the Harry Potter fans, YAY! |

| I have been so excited about this since they first announced it! Only bad thing is that unless they open it by the end of March, there is a very good chance I may not see it until it has been opened for quite a while, since we're moving and I don't know the next time I will make it to FL.
