Is this going to be a separate "park" with additional admission required?

No. : It is a new section of Universal's Islands of Adventure park.

Also, the official announcement of Harry Potter was made something like 2 years ago and opening times have changed and been announced and retracted. There really hasn't been a firm opening date announced . . . last I have heard, they are shooting for a Spring opening but there isn't anything absolute.

I guess Universal has finally pulled it off and given us Disnoids a real reason to go elsewhere! I have never been interested in Universal...did it once and that was enough, but this one has peaked my curiosity! I am looking forward to it!

Definitely is...at least to really enjoy everything and not have to rush. DH and I went there for the first time last November and there were NO crowds. That being said, US took the better part of a full day (with stopping for lunch) and leaving the park around early dusk. IoA, however, didn't take more than a little over half a day. We didn't do a lot of things twice though -- just once through -- and we did stop for lunch at Mythos (a MUST do!). But both evenings we hung out at CityWalk and it was so much fun. (Even got a tattoo! LOL). Can't wait to go back again.

Oh, sorry to hijack the thread there...
