Universal with a 2 year old . . . Help About This Page:

This will be the first big vacation for my 2 year daughter, two of the days one at UV and one at IOA. Any suggestions would be a great help. She is very shy. Any suggestions will be welcomed!

Having taken my 3 yr old to Disney, my suggestion would be many breaks. It can be overwhelming for them at times. If you are staying at Universal I would suggest nap breaks and swim breaks. Just take some time away from the park for a few hours. If not, then find a quiet place for the little one to have a nap. And also know that you may not be able to spend the entire day at the park if you're not staying on property and plan around that. If there is something you want to see at night, go in the afternoon and vice versa.

Thanks that sounds like a good idea! My older daughter was 3 when we went and didn't take naps by then so this will be interesting, especially the car ride down. I think we might consider driving down in the evening, so she can sleep.

I wish I could give advice, but we didn't visit those parks until my kids were 10 and 12. And our first visit to Disney they were 4 and 6. I don't have experience with toddlers in parks at all.

i have to be honest, we waited until our children were older because we felt that there was not alot for them to do at the parks. We just spent 3 days there in August and I was glad we waited. In IOA the Dr Seus area is really neat, however keep in mind that the cat in the hat ride spins. It was cute, but I was glad the ride was over when it ended because I wasn't sure I could have taken much more. There is limited stuff for toddlers there. In US there is the Barney stuff, but other than not not to much more. If you have specific ?? PM me I would be happy to help.

We have been taking DS to Disney since he was almost 3 yrs old. We took our time, didn't push and didn't try to see everything & do everything in one trip. We just picked the rides or things we thought would work for him. Now that he's older we've done Universal parks a few times and I'm glad we waited. Disney is perfect for the little ones. We now have grandkids that are 4 & 5yrs and if we make a trip with them, it'll be to WDW. There's just so much more for them there than Universal IMHO.

Disney I have no problems with for younger kids, but us/ioa is a whole different story.

We did Universal and IOA when DD was 10, and it was iffy as we aren't thrill ride people. I think little ones like that would enjoy a day in the pool at the resort as much as a day at US/IOA.
