Annual Pass

Can anyone give me examples of resort discounts possible with an Annual Pass at WDW? Disney wants me to purchase the pass before telling me. I'm going to WDW late April or early May 2005 and would love to stay at AK, but only if I can get a good discount. Thanks.

Re: Annual Pass

Welcome to the boards !

Mousesaver.com has a all the info that you need to see what kind of discounts you will receive by purchasing an AP -
Once you get to the site go to Disney Resorts (on the left hand side) - it then will offer you the AP Discounts.

Hope this helps!!

Re: Annual Pass

aboard!

From using our AP, our room at POR-R one time normally was $150...we paid $90 with the AP. Savings of 60 x 7 days - $420. But it didn't stop there. We received discounts for food at some restaurants for lunch and 10% for shopping at World of Disney. Plus the best value: We were able to return to WDW anytime in a year that we wanted.

Another room - PC was to be $99, we paid $55 with tax. Polynesian was to be $340, we paid $250.

It depends on what season you go - Value, Peak, etc., but you can save a lot of money even with just one AP for your group.

Re: Annual Pass

I just got an AKL standard savannah room for 163 per night, in October, using the AP rate. This is my first experience with an annual pass. I haven't even bought the pass yet. You can make the reservations without the AP, but get it before you check in. A word of caution - they don't always have AP rates for the time you want to go. Also, for my October trip I found the rooms available at this rate sold out very quickly. I'm not sure if this is common or unusual. Either way, I would suggest that you first verify you can get the rooms you want, on the dates you want, with an AP rate. Then purchase your AP. I'm surprised a Disney employee wouldn't talk to you about the rates before you buy the pass. Unless they haven't released AP rates for April and May yet. I agree with the advice to check out MouseSavers.com. It's the best!!!

Re: Annual Pass

AP discounts are typically only announced 3-4 months in advance and there's no promise that they'll even be available for your travel dates. While we all know room discounts are one of the potential perks of having an AP, Disney doesn't advertise the AP that way - room discounts are released as a kind of bonus, rather than as a "right."

That said, mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com (among other sites) make a practice of posting AP discount info when it's available. While Disney's official site includes a section for AP holders, it doesn't list every room discount offered. What you do is call Disney reservations and ask if they have AP discounts for the date of your trip. Unless they've changed procedure, they won't ask if you have an AP at the time you make your reservation - you just have to be prepared to show it when you check in.
