fastpasses and two blue hairs in chairs.

Our first wdw trip is coming up and my father in law was so excited, he thought he was able to get a pass that allowed him to get him and the family into the fastpass line without having to get individual fastpassses for each ride. I have been informed by my pp friends that this isn't the case, and have read up on the gac. He is going to be so bummed, he was actually somewhat excited about having something good come about from using a wheelchair. No bother, we are now making other plans to help him stay excited. He and my mother in law are in wheelchairs and we have 4 kids. Any advice on how to do fastpasses with two blue hairs in wheelchair "vettes"? We are going in mid september. Maybe we won't really need fastpasses (I am thinking positive.)

I would get fastpasses if the lines look long
Sounds like you are doing your research.
Have a wonderful trip..

I would have one person designated to get the FP for the rides you want. If lines are longer than you care to wait...then I say get the FP....if lines are short on the ride then get the FP and jump in line. Some rides will take you to a separate boarding area as a family but others will move the person thru and they will meet up with you when you come thru the regular line. Last year my FIL had a ECV and it seemed very few rides the family moved thru as a whole. This year we were minus the ECV and my FIL but we used FP to our advantage. Just do your research and be prepared. I think the best thing is going as early in the day as possible or waiting til the crowds thin in the late afternoon.

Hopefully others will have more details for you. My 70 yo mom uses an ECV. You definitely still need the fast passes some times. TSMM is good example. They have a seperate line for ECV and wheelchairs. They only let a certain number go with her through that line, not sure if the total could be 6? I know our 8 was too many. I think the line for the ECV and wheelchairs moved slower than the regular que. However I would say that is unusual. Often I felt the handicapped line was shorter than the regular que.

Hi there!

Sorry it sounds like your father in law will be disappointed!

No, the GAC is not a front-of-the-line pass. It is a good idea to get it if you need it, but you will most likely need to wait if there are lines.

In September, though, you may be in good shape as far as the crowds. I'd take advantage of the EMH's (if the times suit your family) and get all the fast passes I can.

Hope you have a great time!

My DH is in a wheelchair and has been for all of our previous trips. Most of the time you go through the regular lines and should get fastpass if needed. I do remember, for example, Splash Mountain you go through the regular line to a certain point then they pull you out and take you around another way. Haunted Mansion has a whole other entrance. Since up until this trip my DH has been semi-ambulatory we also rented an ECV at the parks. This time though, we're taking his and the only worry I have is leaving it parked in public view as it doesn't require a key. Guess I'll have to make sure the cm's know this and can maybe keep an eye on it.

I would suggest sending someone ahead and getting fastpasses for the entire group. I know we sent DH ahead last year to get fastpasses. I couldn't move as quickly as he could. I used to but that's when my joint issues started causing problems and I move much slower than I used to now.

That is really a good suggestion! Fast passes are a great way to save time and energy, and sending one mobile person ahead to get them is a smart way to get them!
