| Might need to rent a wheelchair After both x-rays and some bone scans, I found out from my doctor that I have stress fractures in my leg. I'm now waiting to get into a fracture clinic to find out what they're going to do to treat it so I'm not 100% sure yet if I'll be in a cast or not. My mom and I are scheduled to arrive at Disney on December 1. I'm thinking I'll most likely need to rent a wheelchair as I don't think my leg, even it it's not in a cast at the time, will be able to handle a full day of walking on it in the park, even if I can manage walking on it at the resort (either with or without my crutches). I'm looking at renting a standard wheelchair for the length of our stay, I'm not comfortable with renting an ECV, and I'm undecided about which company to rent one from. I'm looking for peoples opinions and experiences (both good and bad) with renting from Walker Mobility and Care Medical. Thanks in advance Mystic.

| I just would like to say that I think you have a great plan. Walking around WDW is hard enough, never mind having to do it after just recovering from stress fractures. Unfortunately, I can't help you with company referrals, but I'm sure someone with the knowledge will.

| We rented a manual wheelchair from WDW this past September. It was as easy as renting a stroller last year.....I think we paid $8 a day for length of stay. As far as the outside companies I don't know about them.

| You can check out our sticky thread for places to rent wheelchairs, It may just be easier to rent form Disney. Also check with your resort if you are staying on property to " borrow" a wheelchair..

| We rented from Care Medical in 2006 for DD20 and they were amazing. Had the wheelchair delivered to Pop (as Pop would not guarantee me one on the phone) and then when we left, CMed picked the chair up. I paid in advance. Everything went smoothly. But, let me just give you a bit of advice from one who pushed said wheelchair all over....if possible, get the ECV. It is very hard on loved ones that have to push you all around. There are a lot of hills that don't look too intimidating until you walk them and then wow! My legs got a workout! My DD was 17 at the time and of average adult size. Just my 2 cents, but something to think about. I hope you have an amazing trip regardless!

| Both wrists, both knees and right shoulder are shot and in pain because of pushing my mother around Disneyland. GET AN ECV PLEASE. It gives you freedom to get around. You can drive into a restaurant, transfer to a booth and then have someone park the scooter. The scooters come with cane and crutch holders. Yesterday I tried going across Main Street in Disneyland. Mom would drop her feet and slam to a stop the chair. People would not let me go by and I was not supposed to hit them but apparently people expect strollers and chairs to wait until they pass. Try pushing a chair up steep hills. Trolley tracks are fun to cross until you get stuck in one or when people will not let you cross safely. GET AN ECV.
