What have you found to be the best OTC pain reliever that works?
Have a few issues, first have had both knees operated on and have had the injections in them after,so still pain from that.
and back in Dec. I had planter fashitis surgery that also had a bone spur removes that was ripping tendons. that is still painful. after being in a cast for so long ended up getting tendonitis and been going to therapy since to loosen it up and strengthen it
well went back to work a little over 2 weeks ago and my foot isn't liking it.
Doc gave me motrin 800's but don't seem to be helping. Advil gel caps help for about 30 min. if I take 3 of them.
goal is to try and get this all worked out or find something that helps within the next month and a half since we will be going to the world
For me, for my sinusitis, I use 3 ibuprofens. Just be very careful not to exceed the recommended daily dosage. Aspirin works for me as well if it's a muscle ache. I made it through a kidney stone incident with ibuprofen.
Prescription Vicodan or Percoset? NOOOO!!! Both make me extremely ill, so it's just OTC pain meds for me.
OTC...before my surgery I was a big Aleve user, 2 of those and I was all set. Sadly these days I am relegated to Tylenol which for me is like peeing on a forest fire.
Prescriptions...Toradol or Vicodin. Toradol helped me more passing a kidney stone than Morphine ever did.
I love excedrin migraine. Not only for headaches but for body aches as well. I'm guessing the difference might be that it is a fast acting med. So sorry to hear about all of your pain! I have plantar faciitis in both feet so I can "feel" your pain!

Best of luck to you!
Thanks, I have had the surgery to fix it but just taking longer to heal up I guess.
it was bad when I went in to have it done. I waited 6 months after the doc wanted to do it,work was real busy and didn't want to take off then, So we did cryogenic on it first, which basically freezes the nerves. Doc said after surgery that I shouldn't of been able to even walk on it the way it was. so I guess the cryo worked
You're not going to enjoy your trip if you're in terrible pain, so you really don't have any option but to work with your MD on this one. Talk to her/him about Nucynta (works like a narcotic pain reliever but isn't and doesn't have the side effects)- it's available by Rx only. Another option would be Lidoderm patches, which are applied on top of the skin, 12 hours on/ 12 off. Each is about 4x 6 and you can use up to 3 at one time. Again, by Rx only. Have you tried a TENS Unit for pain relief? That might be a big help to you also.
Good luck!
have another appointment with the doc this thursday. So will see what he says. I am sure he will have me continue therapy up to the time we leave. He had me take 2 weeks off it when I first went back to work, After going back to therapy after that 2 weeks they said I lost 10 deg. of movement in that 2 week time
It's very important for you to keep up the range of motion exercises on your own and not rely solely on PT. if not, you'll repeat the loss and recovery pattern over and over again. If I hadn't followr my own advice, I'd be severely limited in flexing my right knee, but ended up with far better results than ever anticipated.
You might want to inquire about a brace for the knee also, even of it has to be custom made. Donjoy is the company of choice for those- they even supply the US Ski Team- and it can make a big difference in your ability to handle long days, even with an ECV, at WDW.
I'm a Tylenol girl. Don't know why it just seems to work better for me than anything else OTC.
I would, however, talk with your doctor. I was being treated (non-surgically) for plantar fasciitis when we went on our trip in December. I saw my doctor right before I left and he gave me an Rx for Vicodin, just in case the pain got worse during our trip because of all the walking. I've taken Vicodin before and knew that I could tolerate it -- it just makes me sleepy, so I would reserve for nighttime use only. He told me to take it only if the pain seemed to be worsening, and I needed it only one night I was there. But it was nice to have the comfort of knowing I had an option if things got worse and that my trip wouldn't be ruined because of my pain.

PT has me doing some different stuff there and at home now. Doc gave me another round of shots last Thursday. still taking the Motrin 800's but have another Doc appointment right before we leave for Disney so if needed will give me something stronger. Sure it will be Vicodin, thats what I had after surgery. Can't do Tyl. 3's have no effect what so ever on me.
worst case if I have to I will just rent a scooter down there
