Hello! My name is Amy. I have two sons (13) and (9) who have Tourette's Syndrome. Those they do not necessarily need any special accomodations at the moment, there was a time that they did since some of their verbal tics were loud. They have ADD as well.
Hello my name is Sharon and have been enjoying Passporters for a few years too. I have arthritis in knees, Planter Faciitis and some digestive issues. My DH has arthritic knees. We love WDW and since our mobility issues have progressed through the years we are duel scooter users. I have also brought my DGS to WDW on several occasions he has PDD-NOS and loves Disney. Thank you for this site it has encouraged me more than once.

Hey everyone! I have been a member of the PP community for a few years now. My name is Tara, I'm 27 and I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I was born with Spina Bifida (lesion is T-12) and I am a full time wheelchair user. I have been to WDW 14(maybe 15, I've lost count!) times and DL and DCA 1 time in 2011. I used to go to WDW with my family every year at Spring Break and now I try to go as much as I can/afford. My family and I used to stay on property at OKW thanks to my mom's ex-husband's family DVC membership. Before that we stayed at a very nice hotel nearby. I will always stay on property from now on! My most recent trip was in June with my 17 year old sister. I am very independent and have no problem adapting to any situation I'm given. Disney is one of the few places I have been that I feel like they go way above and beyond to be accomadating and accessible to those with special needs. It is so nice to easily jump on a ride without feeling rushed or having difficulty getting on a ride. All of the resorts are very accessible as well making my stay very comfortable, not to mention the buses. With all of this, it makes it's difficult to even think about having a vacation anywhere else since I know Disney will always have it covered.
Hi. I'm Mystic. I'm from Toronto, Canada. I've had to use an ECV in the past due to stress fractures which led to being in a cast for 3 months. I will be using an ECV again on this coming trip due to a wrecked knee. I also have back issues which makes it hard to stand in long lines and ride in certain sections of certain ride vehicles.

Hi Mystic,
Welcome! I love your name.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the new ECV policies!

Hi Sandra,
Thanks for the welcome. I actually pulled the name from a beanie baby unicorn LOL . Thanks for the tip about the new policies. I've actually already changed who I'm renting my ECV from for my upcoming December trip. I'm now booked with Apple, who is an authorized dealer.
Hi everyone, I'm MaryLou....I am recently retired and now full time caregiver to my DH. Jack has progressive MS and is now bedridden. He is unable to take care of himself....he needs to be fed, cleaned and bathed in bed. He stopped traveling about 5 years ago. While he was mobile and able to go to WDW, he used a wheelchair (I pushed) at first and then used a scooter so to be as independant as possible...he was still able to walk but with assistance. I was diagnosed with moderate to severe arthritis in my spine in my late 30s. I used a scooter on my last trip trip to WDW in 2011. I never thought that I would ever need one. We all had to make adjustments when traveling with Jack and now I find myself in the "same place". The arthritis has traveled into my hips and legs and now I shuffle when walking...no long strides anymore. I know that next trip (hopefully, next Sept......another "girls get-away) I cannnot use any "moving walkways" as I have that mobility issue and I really am going to miss those rides with that access. But, I will be at WDW and in my "happy place"...so I can make that adjustment.
Hello, Rella, AKA Mary Lou,
It is a pleasure to "see" you and hear your inspiring story.
I also wanted to let you all know ... you are welcome to welcome each other in this thread! Please don't let the guides hog up the whole welcome wagon!
OK.....Sandy, I really do appreciate the "welcomes" from you and Deb and this "new family". It is wonderful to have a special place to go where "friends" do KNOW what it's like to be "special" and travel. So, I would like to welcome, along with you and Deb.....Sandra, Karen AKA starclassic, Darlene,Beth,Laurie AKA lauriep, Stefani,Dot,Karen AKA PrettyKitty,SueMlovesWDW,Amber,Laurie AKA mechurchlady,Linda,Ruth Anne,Tara,Amy,Sharon and Mystic......I love that we have this place to get the information and help we need but also the support and comfort that is necessary in our lives. Thank you all for accepting me and being part of my world.
Hi everyone!
I'm Teresa. I've been a member of Passporter for longer than I remember! I can't imagine my life without it.
I have a DD (now 29) who was injured at age 6 and is a quadriplegic. WDW has been the only place we have found that will accommodate her disability and allow her to be as "normal" as possible. She's married, and her DH also has quadriplegia. She loves visiting WDW, him not so much. They go about once a year, with his family. She wants more Disney, so we usually go with her a couple of times a year.
We've visited WDW, DL, and DLP with her, plus done a Disney cruise. They always work to allow each guest to best enjoy their experience.
I also have 2 other DDs, both of whom have food allergies that are taken care of by WDW very well.

So well said, MaryLou. I'll take the lazy path and just say ! This site and the people in this thread are the BEST. I'm at WDW right now and no-where else do I get the feeling of freedom I have-- scooting here, there and everywhere.
