ECV Recharging

I have read a lot about rental ECVs and that some need charging more than others obviously depending on a lot of factors like age of batteries, terrain and weight of person. I have also read that you should charge an ECV whenever you get the chance...like during lunch or long show, etc. How do you find an outlet?

Re: ECV Recharging

If you are renting an ECV from one of the parks, don't worry about recharging it, it will last for the day, or you can exchange it for another. If you have your own, or one rented from an off-site facility, it would only be necessary to recharge it at night and you can do this by plugging it into an outlet in your room or asking the bell staff if they can store it in the baggage area and charge it overnight for you. The staff at the WL is always willing to do this and I have already inquired at OKW and they have also said that they wold be glad to provide this service for me. I have taken my own scooter to WDW(I have 2, different brands also) as well as having rented one from Walker Mobility, and although I don't weigh very much, I use the ECV for many hours at at time over all kinds of terrain; I have gotten 2 days worth of use out of them at WDW, but am more comfortable knowing that the vehicle is on "full". It is really not necessary to worry about recharging the scooter when you park it, and I doubt that this would be an option anyway as there would be a danger to others if electrical cords were run all over a parking area.
A plug at night is plenty!

Re: ECV Recharging

I will never forget the first time I rented an ECV from one of the local places that rent them.

First day in the parks, the thing died on the bridge into Adventureland. And a nice CM, who turned out also to be a frequent correspondent on radp, pushed the thing (and me in it) all the way back to Guest Services on Main Street, so they could store it until the company came to pick it up, then helped me get a replacement one from the Disney folks at the MK entrance.

I wrote to Guest Services praising this CM to the highest -- hope it get him some recognition -- that is what I call above and beyond the call of duty!
