Re: \"Beat the Heat\" Tips I am a very young menopausal woman (32) and am still trying to get away from my hot flashes -so - becasaue I am constantly hot, I have learned to be constantly drinking somethng cool - water is way boring for me, but as long it is something cold, I'm okay. Also - going on some sort of water ride to wet down my clothes - big relief! and I have the little fan, but it does not mist.

Re: \"Beat the Heat\" Tips Our last WDW adventure was in late April and with temps and humidity at 100 degrees. We had three keys to keeping cool and protected from the sun. We found this great sunscreen at REI called Gator that was 40 spf and water resistent. After 11 days at spent all over WDW we returned home with not even a tan line the sunscreen was so effective! The second tool we had were camelbaks. These come in all sizes. We fill the water pouch the night before and put it in the room fridge so it is nice and cold the next day. The carriers are insulated so the water stays real cold for hours. We tend to drink more than if carrying a water bottle and it is easier. If you empty the pouch, you can fill it up at any water fountain. Finally, make sure you also wear a hat, that makes a big difference too.

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit We bring some large zip-lock bags. Every morning we fill a bag with ice, a little water and a wash cloth. It feels great to pull out that wash cloth and wipe down your fase, neck and arms.

Re: \"Beat the Heat\" Tips We wear hats because our heads tend to burn & sunglasses. Drink water. One year we went my son was on meds for leukemia and had a broviac & couldn't get wet. We tried to find some shady spots & did alot of indoor rides & air condition things. Hall of Presidents is a nice resting place, some might even enjoy it. Take your time , try sit down food places.

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit A must have in our family (besides all the great suggestions already made of course) would be a roll of glucose tablets. Mom and I are both Hypoglycemic so we often have a real need of these especially when it is hot and we are burning extra calories. Also if anyone is interested, her Dr. just told her that regular (non diet) cola is THE fastes way to get that sugar into your system. The caffine rushes it through your digestive system, but alwayse follow up with a healthier natural sugar as soon as possible.

We had to bring liquid medications with us. To carry on the plane they must be a prescription, the name must match with the person boarding the plane, and declared to security before going through xray. If prescription, they will allow the over the 4oz limit. Vitamin C drops was a life saver last trip Extra elastic bangages

I always have my little tube (similar to the Tide Stain Remover tube) of After Bite on me. It is the BEST stuff for bug bites and stings! It calms the itching right down and it prevents the bite from swelling, which is great for me 'cause ant bites continue to swell on me 'til I put something on them, which used to not be for hours 'til I found After Bite! Not to mention the itching from bug bites, which After Bite takes care of. (Note: I like the original liquid-in-a-plastic-tube kind better than the gel-in-a-squeeze-tube kind, as it works better for me.) http://www.tendercorp.com/afterbite.html ![]() Last edited by Ms_Butterfly; 02-11-2007 at 02:50 PM.. Reason: Apparently "After Bite" is two words, not one *grin*.

| I'd take: savlon, plasters, gauze, steri-strips, bandages, anti-septic and anti-bacterial, feminine products, tweezers, lip balm, tape, non-latex gloves, aloe vera after sun, sun cream, wipes, ice/heat pack, blister pads, prescription meds, thermometre, safety pins, vinegar (excellant for bites), water gel, rehydration sachets

| GREAT TIPS! I'd add terrycloth wrist bands to dip into the ice tubs and cool from the body from the wrists. Gel cushions that can be removed so pressure points change OR for extra room when feet swell from the salty foods and gravity. lambs wool like dancers wear in toe shoes if toes are sensitive.

I also carry a sewing needle. I use it to lance blisters on my feet. No matter what I do, I always develop blisters. If I don't lance them, they feel like knives being rammed into my feet! So, disinfect the needle (with an alcohol pad), lance, then use the mole skin I always have! Can't travel anywhere without mole skin.
