Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

Ok I would bring clover oil for toothaches, for kids who wear braces; wax, ice pack, non-latex gloves, I also have a collapsable cup, butterfly stitches (little bandaids) of liquid bandaid, Bactracine, tweezers for pesky splintersor sewing needle. I also have a tiny cpr mask keychain.

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

My "medicine" kit also contains needle and thread and safety pins. I hate when the kids are running around with a button popped off and it always shows up in the pics. And I carry a little pack of tissues. They are never around when you need them!

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

I just happened upon this post and I would add an extra pair of eye glasses, if you have and wear them. I know I am LOST without mine, and my particular prescription is so strong that only a few labs in the country can make them. A trip would be totally RUINED for me if I broke mine and didn't have a spare pair with me.

I would also, based on personal experience, add lotion to my list of "must haves". Last year, I got sunburned and had no lotion with me. I bought a sample-size bottle at the resort gift shop for $2.50 I'll never do that again!

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

After our last vacation, I would recommend Benedryl Cream, chewable benedryl tablets (for kids) and a disposable ice pack. Granddaughter had a wasp fly into her shirt and it stung her 3 times before I could kill it. While the ice pack had no real value, it made her feel like we were doing something while we were riding back to the hotel to put her in the tub. She welted up pretty good, but except for a light rash all was gone by the next day. The benedryl was the big difference.

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

I always have an extra pair of glasses too. Very important to have if you can't function without them.
Another thing we bring is sort of first aid for my daughter's wheelchair. We keep a small set of Allen wrenches, a regular wrench and a screw driver in a small bag under her wheelchair. That way, if anything on the wheelchair loosens up, we can fix it right away before anything falls off or becomes unusable.
We also found by experience, that if you need tools for wheelchair repair, maintenance in the parks or your resort can help you out. The bike rental place at the resorts will help you if you need air in a wheelchair tire.

I get the benadryl stick...that you can dab on bug bites and rashes. It's great to carry around when you get bug bites.

Re: Your WDW First Aid/Medicine Kit

I've gotta have a nail kit. Clippers & files & maybe even tweezers. I am always breaking a nail without a clipper or file in site so now I have kits in everything I carry from my purse to my backpack to my camera bag.

We bring some large zip-lock bags. Every morning we fill a bag with ice, a little water and a wash cloth. It feels great to pull out that wash cloth and wipe down your fase, neck and arms.

A must have in our family (besides all the great suggestions already made of course) would be a roll of glucose tablets. Mom and I are both Hypoglycemic so we often have a real need of these especially when it is hot and we are burning extra calories. Also if anyone is interested, her Dr. just told her that regular (non diet) cola is THE fastes way to get that sugar into your system. The caffine rushes it through your digestive system, but alwayse follow up with a healthier natural sugar as soon as possible.

We had to bring liquid medications with us. To carry on the plane they must be a prescription, the name must match with the person boarding the plane, and declared to security before going through xray. If prescription, they will allow the over the 4oz limit.

Vitamin C drops was a life saver last trip

Thumbs up

I always have my little tube (similar to the Tide Stain Remover tube) of After Bite on me. It is the BEST stuff for bug bites and stings! It calms the itching right down and it prevents the bite from swelling, which is great for me 'cause ant bites continue to swell on me 'til I put something on them, which used to not be for hours 'til I found After Bite! Not to mention the itching from bug bites, which After Bite takes care of.

(Note: I like the original liquid-in-a-plastic-tube kind better than the gel-in-a-squeeze-tube kind, as it works better for me.)
