I have done both. I have rented from Disney in the parks, and I have rented offsite. I prefer the offsite rental, simply because the hike from the parking lot, and offsite visits to shopping, eating, etc. is just easier if I have the same scooter.

This year, I landed in Ft. Lauderdale about a week before for business. I bought a Revo through Ebay for $300. It folds up to nothing, and I paid less for it, than I would have paid to rent.

I also have to say that having a Scooter everywhere you go (Shopping, eating, etc.) really helps. When I rent offsite several things happen. . . .
1. I know I am going to have a scooter, since sometimes they run out at the Parks.
2. I can get comfortable with the scooter I have and even "personalize" it and set it up the way I like it. ( I have even printed bumper stickers on my computer and used those to cover the company info on the rental, so that the scooter is easy to recognize and more personal. Then, I just take it off before I return it. . . no damage to the scooter, and during the time I have it. . .it feels like "mine".)
3. I don't have to walk all over the resort, or from the parking lot to the rental area. This way, I am relaxed and comfortable all day.

But I will say this. . . if you need one. . .GET ONE! It makes all the difference in terms of your vacation. Don't let pride or vanity get in the way of your vacation. I have LOVED having a scooter, and my family likes it too. (I am in a much better mode when I am not overly tired or hurting.)

I spent the whole afternoon yesterday at Downtown Disney. (Even made three trips back to the car with packages and purchases.) It was WONDERFUL! ! ! I was comfortable and able to enjoy myself. . .and this made my family have a wonderful time too. Even though I was the "pack mule" in terms of packages, it was GREAT.

And, since you have a seat on the scooter, you can always find shade, or a corner in the building somewhere and just sit and wait until your family is ready to go.

If you need one, then get one. . .and enjoy your Vacation. You and your family will be glad you did.

I got a large basket for the back of my Revo so I can pack even more packages
I got it on Ebay. It was 1/4 the cost of the one from the dealer..
Here's to us "pack-mules"

I love my power wheelchair it really help to hide wallet and hook you water bottle up to it with a rock climbing hook. Plus if you not with family you can go fast to one part of the park to the other. I went from the Shade Of Green (a military hotel over by the Poli and across the road on a golf course) to Disney Hollywood Studios just by my chair with the help of the monorails and the boat while I was there. It was great. So try to have your own chair you be glad you did.

I used AA tourist Rentals in Kisssimmi for the last 2 years and am using them again this year. They are the ones with the blue and white stripped canopies on them and for a week am only paying $153.00 which they charge to your credit card when they deliver it to your Hotel. Last year when I went I popped a tire on my ecv and I called them at 10 pm when we got back to our hotel, they delivered a new ecv the next morning by 8 am , at no extra cost these guys are good! and I would recomend them to anyone.

I rented from Rndys and they say they do not deliver after 4:30 but we do not get to the motel until after 5:00 will they leave them? I want to be on my way and on the bus by 8:00 am the next day.

We have always picked up my ECV at the Bell service. Ask them if this is where they leave it. If they wont, Maybe check into a different company. I have never used Randy's. I always used Scooter Rentals Orlando, Disney World ECV Electric Scooters at Scootarama.com and my scooter is always there when ever we have arrived..

I now take my own, but when I did rent an ECV there, it was ready and waiting for me in the baggage room at the WL! Just ask them to leave it at the Bell Desk at your resort. Have a great trip

Randy's prefers to deliver it directly to the person, to your room. That way, there is no chance of it getting misplaced by Bell Services. That also gives you the opportunity to see it, make sure it's in good condition and get any questions answered. We rented once from Randy's and had a good experience and were able to negotiate a delivery and pick up that worked with our schedule (although we did not ask for very early or very late).
You could check with them whether they would deliver it to Bell Services. Possibly they would if you have experience with ECVs and don't need any instruction. It's also possible that they may be able to do an early or late delivery on an individual basis.

We had to have mine picked up earlier than expected the day we left and when I called Randy's they had no problem they said to leave it with bell services with a note to deliver only to randy's moblity....if you call them they should be able to work with you.

First, thanks for all the wonderful insights in everyone's comments. I have a reservation with Buena Vista for Feb. When telling my sister about it, she asked "where do you park it at night?" Gee, didn't occur to me. I'm guessing/assuming that I would drive it into the room?!? Any thoughts anyone?
