Guest Assistance Pass is a lifesaver!!!

If you are headed to WDW and you have a child or adult with special needs I HIGHLY suggest getting the Guest Assistance Pass. We returned a week ago from Disney and this pass was the best piece of paper every. It allowed my son who is 11 with Autism to ride some of his favorite rides several times without having to wait in the long lines. We mainly used it at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom and entered the fast pass return line and got thru very quickly.

I can't wait to go back to Disney!!!

Re: Guest Assistance Pass is a lifesaver!!!

I'll be travelling with my DH who has mobility issues and my DD who is Autistic this August. I'm looking forward to the trip, but I'm also nervous because I have two people with issues and I don't know how exactly the pass works. Can you give me anymore info that might help me either in a post or PM me? The only things I know are that I get the pass at Guest Relations at the parks and that I show it to the CM at the rides. Do we have to wait in the lines first or are there CM outside of all the rides now? The last time I went - back in 1997, the only ride I ever remember seeing CM outside was at BTMRR. All the other rides the only CM I saw were when I got on the actual ride. Thanks in advance for any help and info you can give.

Re: Guest Assistance Pass is a lifesaver!!!

Just look for the handicap entrance at each ride (designated by a wheelchair symbol). Thr tricky part is that they seem to hide it sometimes! You can also just walk up to a CM and show them your pass and ask where to enter. On most rides, you will be directed to the fast pass line or a special entrance just for handicap -- no waiting either way. Every now and then, you do have to wait through a preliminary line (like Small World) before you can cut off to get to the special entrance.

The CMs are very used to people using these, and are generally very nice in assisting you. If you have a newbie and he doesn't know about it, just ask another CM.

You will love it!

I just wanted to point out that not all Guest Assistance Cards allow the person using it to enter the handicapped entrance (and many attractions don't have a specific handicapped entrance). The message that is stamped one the card depends on the needs of the person the card was issued to. Some people (like many people with autism) need that sort of access, but some people need only things like a place to wait where they won't be in direct sunlight, to avoid stairs or to bring a stroller into the lines with them and have it treated like a wheelchair.
